Just wondering. I'm heading down there at the end of the week (probably Friday mid-afternoon arrival) to the town of Candler (which is near Asheville). So if anyone feels like meeting up to help me load up the heap of junk I'm picking up, I'd be happy to buy you lunch beforehand!
Also just asking since I've never been down to that part of NC before. Oddly, my last two project cars were also from NC. Go figure.
I wish I could but I'm about 4hrs away. I hope that it goes smoothly for you, though.
Paging MrChaos, Trucke and Chrispy
i will be at work or in traffic. also it will be raining. also, I-26(exit 17 to south carolina line) will be a parking lot(from noon to 7), and I-40 from westbound exit 37(east canton/candler) to exit 46/the 40/240/26 interchange will be heavy and slow traffic wise and westbound from exit 51(240 interchange) to 55(swannanoa/VA hospital). Avoid around 5.
Also the routes around that are all heavy traffic wise.
Go hiking or mountain biking while you're there, it's awesome nearly anywhere in the area.

Unfortunately, work on Thursday and Saturday are bookending me, so it's going to be a 6 hour haul down and turn around 6 hours back most likely. Due to the guy's schedule I only have a certain window to get there and can't really work out any better way to do it unfortunately.
It will be well worth it, however.

cool, will do. I'm sure the guy I'm buying from will help as well, but always happy to meet up with GRM folks and some extra muscle never hurts!
If you go home via highway 85 through the Charlotte area, dinner on me.

love to take you up on that, but I'm heading up 81 (about 30 minutes faster), and if I went through Charlotte and didn't visit my brother and his zoo-house of kids, he'd kill me lol. Trying to make it back to DC before midnight.

lol, well Google doesn't seem to give me many other options, but I'll be "in" early afternoon and hopefully out of town by 4, heading North/East up 26. Guess it will be what it is :/
Though, depending on how hilly 26 is coming in with an empty trailer, may head east to Durham to stay on flatter stuff, since I'll be towing something with the largest drag coefficient on earth for a small vehicle :)

lol, by smallish I mean that its length and width are similar to my Porsche 924S.
but seriously, just picking up a parts vehicle for another project. Nothing really exciting.
