The qualifying and lower series races were later in the afternoon or in the evening with different track conditions. So the teams didn't really know how the cars would handle in the draft or how the track would change.

I was outside enjoying the nice weather. The roundy round NASCAR races don't interest me much. I'll watch the road courses.

I avoided going outside this weekend... just would have pissed me off more that I couldn't ride...

It was good riding weather. First good weekend in awhile.

We missed the TV coverage this year as we had a ton of yard work to do. And, oddly, we didn't hear the race from home. Sometimes we can hear the speedway, sometimes we can't. This year we could hear the Rolex, but mostly that was the Chevys.

I have a feeling we'll go watch next year's race live. Mrs. Editor wants to go. We have never been, and it's right here in town, she reasons. Plus the new grandstands really are amazing. We watched some of the Rolex from up there. What a view.

Is it simply cars going "around in circles"? Are the cars no longer production-based? Who cares. We're looking to escape and be entertained for a while. And seeing guys go three-wide at 200 mph should scratch that itch.

(By the way, before the 400 you can watch Thursday practice from the grandstands for $20. We might do a special GRM hangout that day. Of course you didn't hear this from me because NASCAR is silly and boring.)
