Could be!
Gah....looks awesome! Too bad I am working!
I am thinking about packing up a few PB+J sandwiches and driving out to Maryhill on Saturday next weekend. I have been to the Loops, but haven't attended that event before. How is the spectating? Parking? Hike in? Good visibility?
Teh suckage... Was sure I'd have stopped hacking and sneezing by this time, but no...
Got up to walk the dog before heading to PIR and decided that standing around in intermittent drizzle for a few hours is exactly not what I should do...
It's starting to look like we'll off the WRX for something more sensible without ever autocrossing it.
Javelin. Sorry I flaked. I was trying to get a few last things done on my car Friday night and let the smoke out of something. Was busy yesterday, but came home and worked on it until the wee hours unsuccessfully. Sucks. J
In reply to ransom:
I had a sad that you didn't show up. FWIW, the weather was fine except for the lightning squall at 11:30 we stopped for 15 minutes for. Dry track most of the day.
In reply to Jcamper:
Jeeze man, make it 100% GRM failure why don't you!?! Good luck fixing the car. I passed you twice on Friday in the 5 and honked/waved but you never saw me.
In reply to Javelin: I had better start paying attention! Sorry!
Regarding the car, yeah I am learning how to desolder and getting some more electronics troubleshooting practice in. A good lesson somewhere here about if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Jeff
In reply to Javelin:
Wife's ears perked up when she heard about that on the radio this morning. We'll be in Seattle that day though (picking up a transaxle for the 951, woot!).
I would likely go and walk around while eating a Bacon cheeseburger, because I'm an shiny happy person and I like poking fun at people who take themselves too seriously. This is assuming my wife wouldn't kick my ass first.

It's a 3-day event (Fri/Sat/Sun). We're going Saturday. They won't let you in the door with meat (seriously, one of the vendors gave away cheese last year and there was very nearly a public lynching, and I'm not joking). The atmosphere is definitely not a stuck-up one though (people were pissed at being served animal product at an all-vegan event). It's very laid back and "hey, try this it's tasty" as opposed to holier than thou health-only stuff. Heck, they do vegan pizza samples all day that have to be about 137% oil

Oh I know, I barely eat any meat anymore unless I cook it myself or we go out to dinner. The exception is seafood as the wife still likes to eat it. That alone is probably why I've not ballooned up nearly as bad I could have.
In reply to turboswede:
I'm allergic to shellfish, but I quit all seafood about 1.3 milliseconds into my first inspection in the Coast Guard.
Last autocross of the season on Sunday! Who's coming? We're running the infield Pro Pits at PIR.
I have my class wrapped up, so I'm trying to figure out what I'm taking. Javelin again? Mazda5? Find a buddies car to co-drive? (HINT HINT)
I wish!
But I can't complain too much about my excuse; my band's playing the night before. I know better than to say I'm going to be at an autocross at 7:30 the morning after that.
It's also possible that we won't have the WRX anymore the day before the auto-x, but I'm not sure things will progress that quickly...
Have fun!
If anybody has wheels & tires for a 5x4.5 / 5x114.3, we can co-drive the Javelin. 400 Ft/Lbs of torque...
Javelin wrote: In reply to turboswede: Seriously? Want a previously-season-champion-in-a-944 co-driver?!?
Just berkeleying registered (joined the PCA and the ORPCA as well, been overdue). Need to get the car around the block now ;) I'll let you know. Need to figure out which class I'll be in as well.
In reply to turboswede:
What mods does it have and what tires are on it? (I'm the Registrar, so I put you in the right class anyway) Thanks for joining ORPCA, now I can make you a minion.
Let me know on the co-drive. I can bring magnetic numbers and pop for gas or something.
In reply to turboswede:
Hmm, the turbo and ECU should probably put you in M01, but seeing as how stock the rest of the car is, you'll get slaughtered. Honestly the prep looks way closer to I02. I'll confer with the AX Chair.
We have 2-3 cars for M01, but for some reason they never run a whole season. I02 used to be heavy, but they all moved away so you'd be alone. We're combining I01 & I02 next season, so there's some potential there for you for next season.
I kind of doubt you want to run the 3 M01 cars (914-6, GT flares, fully built later motor), (996 Carrera S with many mods), (72 911 Carrera RSR clone with a 993 Varioram motor)...
Well, I bolted the battery down and loaded the car up tonight. I'll see you tomorrow and we'll see how this thing does when flogged a bit.
You'll need to log in to post.
