It's at Thunder Hill, just south of Redding. It's a long way to drive to spectate for a day, and it's in the middle of nowhere... but it's supposed to be a blast for competitors.
I wouldn't call it "just" south of Redding - it's considerably closer to Saramento. Once you're on 80, you can be there in < 2 hours from the Bay by cutting across 505.

I've never run a car, or attended the event. The low purchase price requirement doesn't do the cars justice though... at least some of them.
Some teams put a lot of time and efforts into the cars, and there are spending categories that aren't covered in the cost they look at... so there are definitely a few that I'm sure make it home, then out to other events.
Even if you're not going to run a car in the event I've heard it's a great place to meet other people who are into the same hobby.
I was a bit sad I didn't get a chance to look for other GRM forum members at this event, but I was running around like a chicken with its head cut off.
A lot of that was due to the fact that I was one of three drivers in the Blue STS MR2. Then they combined the first couple of run groups which threw a real monkey wrench into our plans since we were trying to spread our tuning through a couple of different run groups. It was big relief when the event chairs reversed themselves and uncombined the run groups, but it lead to a lot of unnecessary running around .
Also our driving was off today we were really off of our game, we couldn’t even beat TypeQ Still I would classify it as a successful event because we learned a lot and now we have quite a bit of work to do in the off season...
Those of you who were there:
Did you have fun? How did you do?

You are living up to your screen name.
I make it a point to live up to my screen name every event...
The sad thing is of the three of us driving the car I placed the best. Andre never got a clean run though he put down a couple of scratch times that were way faster than me, and komush was busy doing his best to provoke the car into bad behaviour. For some reason the car didn't do anything evil.
I figure it knew we were testing it, so it was on its best behaviour, Shoot somehow I managed to avoid spining it.... ( a first I think)
