I have never balanced my autocross R-tires. At the speeds I am driving I never experinced much vibration. However, after having my new Hankooks mounted, they seem more out of balance than my Kumhos.
1) Do other members not balance their autocross tires.
2) has anyone experienced more "out of balance" with Hankooks than with Kumhos?

I never balanced my autox tires, never had an issue. Don't think many people balance them.
Never run Hankooks as AX tires, and the only Kumhos I've run were ancient V700s that I got used.
In reply to peter:
I don't know of anyone balancing them either. Maybe I am just not used to the feel of the Hankooks.

I autocrossed for twenty years and never balanced a dedicated tire; never noticed it either. The only times my tires were balanced: when I first started and then when I ran ST for a couple of years - because I drove on them, too.
It sounds like a learning-curve issue or (maybe) rim damage or a really bad tire. Any chance you got to watch/inspect the mounting process? Bad things can happen during that time.
I never balance autocross tires. I haven't run the Hankooks, but know several people who do and I don't believe they have balanced them. I know they like them quite a bit.
I never balance my wheels either.
The trick to dealing with imbalance, is to be a bit imbalanced yourself.
In reply to oldsaw:
Unfortunately no. I do know that things felt find before the new tires were mounted.

I've never had Hoosiers balanced, and I've never had a problem.
I've run unbalanced tires many times before and never had a problem, but it is possible that the wheel is really horribly out of balance (heaviest points and lowest points of rim & tire both lined up).
I've never even considered not balancing my tires.
I have mine balanced ... but I drive to and from the events and I drive on track ... sometimes on the a-x tires
I didn't balance my slicks or my rally tires... Never noticed a difference.

I always balance every tire...but have not had R-Comps since 2007.
