My buddy just picked up an '83 Sentra as a rallycross beater. The car runs, has some rust damage (but not too bad), needs a good suspension refresh, a new clutch, but engine fires right up and sounds good. He's working on fixing things up but obviously with a car this old not widely used for performance events there's seemingly limited internet forum/aftermarket support.

So, please share your knowledge of ways for him to make the car better, find parts (or post up your parts if you have them!), fix things, what to look for, parts from other cars that work on this car, etc etc. Also he wants to remove most or all of the emissions crap on it (for off-road use only, of course!) so post up ideas on what to remove in terms of vac stuff, etc.

I know jack about this car, just posting it for him to get the ball rolling, and I"m sure he'll chime in at some point (he is a member here, just doesn't post up). His first mod will be the GRM sticker I have here for him :)

Those blue ramps in the garage look pretty sweet. I need some of those did he make them himself?

Thanks for posting this up Josh....ended up changing the VC gasket tonight along with the plugs/wires and distributor rotor.....was gonna do a dist cap but the parts store gave me one that's too shallow....

Also pulled the carpet(smelled awesome LOL) and found some cancer....will Fiberglass most of it but need to find a local to help with welding a plate over the rear strut tower after cutting out the cancer there.....Also will probably cut out the rocker cancer and have some sheet metal welded in....then will spray paint the car black :)

Hopefully a Junkyard expedition is in store soon....need a new passenger door and will probably do a driver door and front right fender as well(for rust repair)....all in due time......:)

I think a lot of B13 and even the front half of b14 stuff swaps over. Suspension, engine/trans and so on.

i've had a few B11's. those rear towers are always rotten. other than that, they're pretty hard to kill. i gave my brother my last example. he ran it right out of oil by 260k.

there's nothing you can do to make it fast. just make it reliable, and enjoy.

I am no expert but I have seen them on the net from time to time. Just find a junked SE-R or NX2000 and start swapping everything over. I think the steering rack might need to be moved up or down or something. Here is a B12 with an SR20 swap http://www.modified.com/features/sccp_0807_nissan_sentra_bonneville_salt_flats/viewall.html

As an admitted Nissan junky I am excited to see how this goes! I love seeing random, usually unloved Nissans get chosen for fun duty! I think you should leave the factory paint...it has nice patina (can a Sentra from the 80's have patina?). I have no advice to offer as far as parts swapping, but as was already mentioned it wouldn't surprise me if stuff off later Sentras fit (the B12's look nearly identical). Enjoy!

well, then you can't use the black GRM decal I have for you...

Don't use the Matte Black spray that I used on the GT6 though. It looks good, but it's really hard to get dirt/mud off of....the stuff sinks in to the finish.

Rallycross car....I told you, cut it out, bring it over here, and we'll fiberglass. The only thing you need welded is those rear shock towers.

We can glass the front small part but new metal needs to be put in the rear pan if a roll bar is ever in the future....

Update, I have decided to sell the car AS-IS for $450/obo. I am going to probably go with another car in the near future. Give me a call at 1-703-795-7191 if you are interested...

Thanks, Jason
