Hello folks. Been awhile (3-5 years?)
We'll be starting the search for a new car for my wife. Looking at the tiny SUV category.
She'll be coming from a 2010 Fit Sport, which has been flawless. I'll be inheriting that one.
We're a Honda/Toyota household. I like having her buy something new and driving it for 10 years with as few headaches as possible. Thus, nothing German. Her car headaches become my car headaches. She has zero care about driving dynamics. She's 5"11". In normal times, it'll commute 45 miles one way during the school year (her car has moved 1000 miles since March).
Thinking about:
Honda HR-V (I'm leaning toward this one)
Toyota CH-R
Subaru Crosstrek
Mazda CX30 (longshot)
To the mechanics out there, which of these are starting to show weak points? How concerned should I be about direct injection?
I'll let the hive take it from here.
I drove a CX30 and it was seriously nice. Now whether it is on par in reliability, I do not know.

I'm pretty iffy on the lifespan of a Mazda direct injection engine. I've heard good things about the car, but most cars are great for the first 3-5 years.
Gambino! It's like the band is getting back together!
We just bought an HR-V. It's very good. Not excellent, but very good.
I prefer my Wrangler Unlimited but after last weekend I'm leaning to a slammed nasty 258k mile Lexus GS430 with tranny issues.

are you sure it was trans issues? It sounded like it was backfiring to me, when I was working the autox course.
I find the contrast between your avatar pic and the question to be amusing. Sorry, I have constructive no input otherwise. :)

Nice to be back!!!
I'm not expecting the HR-V to be much more than a lifted Fit, which is fine by me and will likely be fine for her. Her biggest gripe with it is that it doesn't come in any fun colors (her Fit is purple [Blackberry Pearl]). Are you planning on driving yours into the ground?
I also like the idea of getting one that's loaded for under $30k.

Irony isn't dead.
I've had that avatar since the days of 15mpg SUVs. The SUVs I'll be looking at will be 30mpg.
I still hate large SUVs.
