Ever since I busted my tibia platue (and have minimal cartilage in my knees driving my wife 09 WRX it a literal pain... I don't drive it much thankfully as the lack of low end makes it not my kind of car.
Anyway, she told me the other day the clutch is creaking as you take your foot off. I slid the seat back and went under the dash to see if I could quickly spray the pivot and what did I find a HUGE spring on the clutch pedal!! Were not talking a small spring to make sure the pedal returns were talking massive strong spring.
Does anyone sell a spring made to lessen the force needed for the pedal?
I'm tempted to just pop it off and see how it is, but figured I can't be the only one to find this ridiculous set up. Why not size the master and slave properly?

Check the firewall for cracks. That is why they creak. On the spring, sorry I don't know if there is a fix for that.
I've noticed that the '08-up WRX clutch is ridiculously stiff for the amount of torque it needs to accomodate. I can barely drive them.
Is the spring an over-center spring? Those are actually somewhat necessary for good clutch feel a lot of times. Once past the midpoint the spring helps push the clutch down.
Time to give up and get an automatic.
You might want to see if a pedal spring from a forester would work, the clutch on my wife's 6 speed is the lightest clutch I've ever driven.
Yeah, check the firewall for the crack, as well as the pivot point can wear. The spring is somewhat adjustable, but you don't want to mess with it unless you know the pivot point and firewall are in good shape. If done wrong, and the pivot is bad, it will push the pedal to the floor.
