I wasn't sure where to post this so let me know if you need to move this topic.

Can I devalue parts that I bought 15+ years ago?

Example: I paid $250 for a set of VW heads back in late 2000. Now I want to use those heads in my build. Now they are more accurately only worth $100 or $150.

Can I claim fair market value on them even though I did pay $250?

Not trying to cheat, just curious what everyone thinks.

I would think that if you can find an eBay auction or cl add that supports it then sure. But better let others with more experience chime in.

Definitely find current pricing, snowflakes and OE BBSs used to be cheap and have tripled in value. Also see pepperpots.
