Okay, it seems from the "Who's prepping" thread, there are gonna be at least 4-5 F-bodies at the challenge in '10, possibly more. According to my spreadsheet, there's been 2 2nd gen entries, and 3 3rd gen entries in the entire challenge history. At this rate, we could beat that total Also, I'd love to get a better idea of how many of us there are out there.

Anyhoo, just wanted to see if anyone wants to do any networking, and trade ideas (and parts, if close by).

Also, a little early to be planning this, but back in '05, I got a bunch of the Civic/CRX guys to do a group photo at the track. Wanna try to do the same this year?

Oh yeah, I've got an 87 Firebird 305 LG4/T-5 thats going 350/700R4. My donor drivetrain's been sitting a while, though, so I'm holding ontot eh 305 until I get everything put together and some testing done, just in case. I think I've got my paint job/theme down, but not quite sure yet.

does the t5 work?

if so and you want to get rid of it i might help you make room in your budget and take room away from my budget. i want a manual for the old truck slated to go to gainesville in october but do not want to use the 3 speed i have.

In reply to patgizz:

Already traded it to another GRM'r for some SBC parts. I'm not the fastest at shifting, and I was a worried about the increased torque a 350 put out. Plus it didn't hurt that the 350/700R4 was a package deal, so I was paying for the transmission regardless.

Well, my boss has banned working on the fun cars until I finish repairing the deer damage on my Accord and change the springs on the Civic. The hard part is I'm a truck driver so scheduling time to work on the cars is the biggest obsticle.

However, the 86 IROC came to me with a 305 / 700R4. It's not much to look at & I'm not sure how to proceed, but it'll be fun.

I'd be happy to let you take your picture with me... for a nominal fee. Seriously though, I don't know how much tech info we can share because our cars are very different parts/design wise.

I will say that I think opting for the automatic trans in your car is not what to do. The T5 should be strong enough if you add some lightness to your car. If you got the 350/auto as a package you can sell off the trans and get a free engine and then recoup some car budget by selling the 305.

If you run a second-gen car, there's some free or near-free handling improvements I can share with you.

Just pm me.

would be awesome if all ponycars wore vintage trans-am liveries: a donohue camaro vs a bud moore mustang vs a sam posey challenger etc.

Funny you say that, the front runner paint scheme for my car is from Trans Am racing. One that Jerry Titus drove in 1970.

I hadn't thought of that. Must do some research. Of course, I could go the easy way. Mine is a IROC. But to be accurate id have. To put someone's name on it.

Damn it Jim, too many projects & not enough time.
