Well they are made of iron. N/A 12A's are the lightest by far but they are still fairly heavy. You forgot to mention that they are also really short, keeping the weight low.

My 84 GSL-SE weighted in at 2415 sans driver. That is pretty much fully loaded minus AC compressor and bracket. Still had the spare and some tools in the storage bins.
I can relate to how heavy the motors are. I had to move a fully dressed 12A four times in the past two weeks using only a skateboard and friend. Heavy and awkward to carry.

I'm surprised how much the RX7s weigh, I figured they'd be lighter than that in stock-ish trim. Where are you weighing your stuff at, DIY scales or truck stop/dump scales? Bryce
I knew someone would say that, and yes I meant both chevettes.
The lightest I got my 91 318is was 2325lbs wet. Completely streetable too with carpet, doorpanels and headliner intact.
I know my 91 Civic Si in ST trim was 2080lbs on the corner weighing scales at my sponsor's shop. And that was with full tank of gas if I remember right and 20lbs of sponsorship decals. LOL.
Digging this one up from the grave...
The RX-7 started @ 2650 w/me (@230) and was @ 2540 here. I got it down to 2500 w/me in STS-legal trim, and another 50Lbs lighter with no interior.
I just weighed the Miata today (93 B Package). 1/2 tank, me (@230... STILL!), factory hardtop (headliner and defrost), spare/jack, etc on 15" RoTa's and it weighs: 2570
So plop off the hardtop, take out the mats, spare, etc, and it's probably @2500 in stock race weight. I figure an STS-legal exhaust (header, high-flow cat, cat-back), CAI, and some little stuff (battery, pulleys, etc) and I can get it to 2400Lbs with me. Now Audra is well over 100Lbs lighter (probably 130Lbs lighter) so 2270...
