OK, SO I have a Helmet because my car is a "Targa Top". I installed a "Battery tie down" which consists of a threaded Rod and a Gate Hinge. Do I need a Fire extinguisher...I mean I might need one, but is it required? Anything else I need.
Challenge Newb here, replacing the starter AGAIN tomorrow, dialing up the suspension, trying to tie up loose ends.

Seatbelt is generally good, seats bolted down, no rust holes in the floors, fire extinguisher not required iirc.
But never a bad thing if mounted securely

Probably a bad idea however, if tied to the parcel shelf with twine.

There will be a mandatory safety inspection where you have to meet the safety rules for autocross AND for NHRA drag racing. There are really no requirements for special safety equipment, unless you are going really fast on the drag strip.
As you mentioned, the battery must be securely mounted, and cables routed/insulated to avoid sharp edges.
Some of the other things that people tend to forget:
Good solid brake pedal and proper fluid level, good smooth throttle return, no excessive play in steering or wheel bearings, seat secured, good seat belt system (OEM is OK), no fuel leaks or excessive leaks of other fluids. If you are not using the original ignition switch, make sure your ignition switch is labeled. Make sure there is an obvious inside door latch that works. No sharp edges that the driver could contact. No loose items in the car, not even an unsecured floor mat.
Be sure the lug nuts are correct for the wheels you are using.
I agree a fire extinguisher is a good idea, especially for a Challenge car, where the fuel lines might not be exactly brand new.
