My Civic DX does not have a tach. How hard is it add one? Also does the D16Y7 engine have a rev limiter? And I am looking at buying some stock steelies to mount tires to autocross on but the stock size is 185/60-14 and there are no sticky tires available for that size that I saw. What size can I fit?

The questions I can answer for you questions are:

The engine has a rev limiter

What to you mean by sticky tires? There used to be a number of R compound tires available for 14' wheels. I have bought 185/55/14 and 195/55/14 Kumho v700's and put them on 14x5 steelies for my Civic. 195/60/14 can also work.

185/60-14 are what my CRX runs stock, and I'm using Falken Azenis RT-615s in 195/60-14. I used to run R compounds on 13x8 wheels, but I got tired of switching wheels at the track, and I've been really happy with the Azenis.

do you mean 195/60/14? cause you would have to buy new wheels then, and if you are going to buy new wheels, you might want to think about getting a 15x7" wheel and doing a 205/50/15 or a 195/50/15 Bridgestone RE-01R

195/60/14 Falken RT-615 or Hankook Ventus RS-2 is probably the way to go if you want to stay in street tire class.

Also, instead of a tach, you can JUST install a shift light (which reads engine rpm and turns on at a preset RPM) and you can set it to whatever. (just an idea).

It will probably be run in ST for at least a while until in get a bit more money at which time it is going to be in FSP. Where exactly would the shift light/ tach plug-in into the ECU right?

get an ex or lx gage cluster with a tach.. put in car It works!!!!

You can yank a tach-equipped instrument panel from another car and swap it in. The above link gives instructions on how to do it.

You don't need a tach for autox. Generally the course will define your 1-2 shift, and then you just leave it there. You never look at the tach while running.
