Here's a smattering of photos I managed to snap off before my batteries died, at yesterday's Phillip Island Classic, in Melbourne, Australia.
RX-2 leads Holden FX.
Mk2 Jag was always back of the pack, but sounded wonderful.
Valiant Charger in front of HQ Monaro
JPS 635 CSI at the front of the pack
Little Corolla managed to hang with the big cars remarkably well.
Escort sneaking up on Celica.
JPS E30 M3 was race winner.
One for aussiesmg
US muscle leads Aussie muscle
Note the red car running out of traction
I believe the green car is an Austin 7.
Ford roadster special thing looked like a real handful.
T35B.
Not sure what this car is, but it sounded like a WW2 fighter plane .
And finally, Holden Torana driven by legendary Aussie touring car driver, the late Peter Brock.
With carburettors as big as my head.
Killer pics, Luke! I like the RX-2, -7, 6-series, and Camaro SS the most. I also like this one:
Isn't this an early Mitsu Lancer, or is it the Holden Torana? The rears look kind of similar.

That's actually a Mk1 Ford Escort, with pumped-out guards. I can definitely see the Lancer similarities, though.
Valiant Charger! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!
Did anyone else spot the two Jaguar XJS's, I like those

Man, find out what that "WW2 Fighter" thing was! That might be my Locost inspiration!
Awesome pics man! I want to go to Australia so bad + NZ. The only thing I've got going for me to get down there is that my g/f has almost enough money for both of us to go to Perth to see her best friend....
Is this a Merkur or Mustang?
Last fall at Lime Rock there was a car with a WW1 Liberty engine. Sign said 1927 car with 1918 engine. The way it sounded on the track, it wasn't turning much over 2K rpm if that.

I raced at the Glen a couple times against a Aussie who came over with his wickedly fast Holden Torana, his name escapes me but a great driver.
Very nice cars, most look like they have the max camber drifter set-up though.

Did some research on this one. Turns out it's something called a Gipsy Fiat Special, powered by a Gypsy Moth aeroplane engine housed on a Fiat 501 chassis. Which would explain the sound.
Here's a shot of one of the XJS's.
DirtyBird, I'm originally from Perth, and going back there soon. It sure is a beautiful place.
Sweeet Group C Rx7 Luke, I also love Gricey's A9X, is it the real one? I used to race a MKI Escort in Group 2E.
Those Walkinshaw XJS led to bigger and better things, they rocked big time.
Luke thanks for the memories mate.

No worries mate. The Allan Grice car was the real deal, and those two JPS Bimmers were actually once raced by Jim Richards.
I watched those cars on track in ATCC back in the day, Group C and A were legendary.
