That was a cool article. I had no idea so much of the car was designed/revised by those sneaky Japanese.
However, despite how clean that particular example is, it would be a real tough call for me to trade a sorted CRX Si. If faded paint is your worst problem on the Rex, I doubt I'd make the choice to get rid of it.
That said, just go drive the darn thing and then decide. I think either car would be fun to own.
Pretty much the ENTIRE car, in this case. There's really nothing ford about it besides body panels and badges.

Those acceleration and braking numbers are spot-on to what ive achieved with a stock 1993 dodge dynasty, so that's a plus, i guess. The numbers may be better than the CRX's too.. all i remember about stock 89 CRX speed is that slower cars can easily pass them after they gear out at like 103 mph.
I think the Escort, assuming you keep it in GOOD condition, is the better one to have. Moreover, i wouldnt pay that amount for the CRX so if you can get the escort in some sort of dollar-neutral exchange or series of transactions, i think you'd be doing well.
15.5s have been seen on stock examples since then.

I wouldn't ask that much for it. As of now, I'm going to keep her. I don't have much in it. My brother put most of the money in it.

A stock si doesn't gear out at 103. They aero out around 118-120. My turbo'd d16 '91 si geared out around 145 with stock gearing and 195-50-15 tires. Maybe your reference is a different trim level, as they didn't all have the same gearing.
I get just under 130mph in my '91 SI with a little aero work
Need a turbo now.
Taking the make/model of the car totally out of the equation, I'd say 'go with the devil you know.' The only "not out of neccessity" car transaction I really regret making is selling my well-maintained, 265,000 mile turbo shadow, and buying a 120,000, good looking but NOT well maintained piece of E36 M3 civic.
I get bored with cars too, but I try to reserve the 'buy cheap, sell when I get bored' thing for project cars.
You should get the EGT so that I'm no longer tempted by it.
I'm 15 minutes from Vandalia and would be happy to look at it for/with you. I've had a few (4) BG chassis ford/mazdas and know some potential trouble spots to look for.

Thanks for the info. I just pulled that number out of my head and its based mostly on observation from the other side of the race, not from driving. For that matter, what looked stock might not have been.
