No- not Connecticut Society of Cosmetic Chemists, the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge!
I love this race series so bloody much & am thrilled for the start of a new season. I DVR'd the last 2 races so I would have something to watch during hibernation and was not disappointed. As usual, fierce battles were being waged up & down the field in both classes and the outcome was decided near the end. Robin Lidell & Billy Johnson's Camaro v. Mustang battle was epic, too bad Pierre K's subaru got crashed out - I think he would have been a player at the sharp end.
At COTA, there was a high-speed crash due to brake failure that I replayed for my wife 10 times to show her how the driver was able & cool enough set himself up in a sideways slide at the last minute so the passenger side of the car hit the wall flat. Or at least it looked like that's what the 370Z driver did. And at Road Atlanta, another driver lost his rear brakes at high speed but seemed to freeze and kept front wheels locked and turned the whole time as he went head first into the wall. Generally I think that when you are at full-lock and your tires are locked/smoking/on fire, you might want to at least try something else at that point.
Anyway....
The race is on imsa.com tomorrow afternoon but I can't watch at work. Does anyone know if the race will be rebroadcast on Foxsports 1 or 2 later in the week/month/year/ever? Or if it will be available online after the race maybe?
