So I've got a set of injectors from a kawa zx10r sport bike ('05) that I need to determine the flow rate of. they have a part number on the side (28403y3) that I have not been able to determine the manufacturer of or any other info with extensive application of my google-fu. bosch style connector but it says "bosch license" inside it, leading me to believe that it's another manufacturer but using the bosch connector. I know I read an article in a mag some time back about setting up a test rig for a fuel pump to determine it's flow. Was that you guys GRM? It would have to be you, scc or turbo. Is there any way to set up a similar rig for testing injectors? Is there a way to calculate the theoretical flow rates mathematically if you have enough data? such as stock horsepower, rpm levels, displacement, fuel line fuel pressure, etc..? I even got my hands on the FSM for one of those bikes but no dice there either.

It is possible to fire an injector into something that lets you measure volume, for a set amount of time. It would be a bit involved, but doable if you have a fuel pump and regulator.

No way you can calculate flow rates from engine data, though, simply because while you can figure out what the minimum flow rate you need is, you can never tell if engineers decided to add a bit more capability so they could use the same injectors in a couple different models (for example, just about every early '90s Honda car used 240 cc/min injectors) or just oversized the injectors for no apparent reason.

woohoo!!! scored the data needed.

http://www.factorypro.com/ these guys advertise flow check and balancing for sport bike injectors so I found them and gave them a call and they gave me the following data for these specific injectors:

110 mL 20 s 100% DC 3bar FP.

so at the bikes stock FP and 100% DC they are appx. 330 cc/min injectors.
