ya it's Charlotte ( at Knights Stadium) here in Asheville it's at the Ag center, across from the airport...

a bit of correction ... they're both run like regular a-x's ... so the changes you want to make would be between monthly events... since it's the same course each time you get some feed back.... not as good as if there was time between runs, but still better than nothing

thanks for all the feedback folks!

I def. plan to keep at it. I'm thinking about looking for a slower car the next few times until I get the hang of it. Dad's old Buick might be just what I need

I know EXACTLY what you are talking about. My first event was a very short course (about 35 seconds) in a "school/test & tune" format. It looked like an absolute cone forest at first. I managed to make four events last year and by the last, a complicated 1:20-1:40 course, I knew exactly where I was going event though there was only time for 2 walk throughs. I'm not sure why or how but eventually the cone layout, meanings of pointer cones, etc. just "clicks" and you recognize it immediately. Three suggestions that helped me: 1. Spend a couple evenings just watching autox runs on Youtube, there are literally 100's of them. It really helps you get past the "sea of cones" issue. 2. Don't think about the cones, think about the line you want to drive, try to memorize the line in terms of what you want to do, not in terms of the cones you have to avoid. The cones are only there to let you know when you're screwed up the line. 3. As mentioned above, the slow first lap then refine/speed it up works pretty well for me.
