After receiving my free can of silver bullet I sprayed the fuel tank on my Sportster with it. I sent some pictures to Sean @ Eastwood and said I was looking forward to buying a couple cans to try some tank art and see what I could do with it. Much to my surprise he offered to send me more. I played with different techniques and finally found something I liked so I ran with it.
Let me know what you think.
I did a horrible job on the masking tape. My lines are not straight or symmetrical at all. It's really bad. Besides that I'm pretty happy with how the project turned out. I just wish I would have spent more time taping it off.
I would like to thank Eastwood for letting us play.
Looks good for a diy with a new medium.
Looks good unless you point out the masking issues!
Be careful when fueling, if it's anything like Plastidip, all it takes is one errant drop of fuel from the nozzle to discolor the finish. That'd be a very interesting test if you have any leftover: see how Elastiwrap stands up to to fuel.

You can use pinstriping tape to make those rounded corners. Also, IMO it would have looked better if you had made the insert to match the shape of the tank. If you'll look at the picture above you can see that the tank has a specific shape with the "triangle" having three rounded corners of different shapes.
I have some questions: 1. are those the stock turn signals? 2. are the mirrors stock? 3. does the license plate actually mount on the side of the fender? 4. If so have you ever had a problem with an officer of the law about it?

Yes, just inverted so I can see behind me instead of my shoulders.

No, that is factory.
I tried to make it match the shape of the tank I just failed miserably at it. One problem is regular masking tape doesn't stick to this stuff, I used 3m delicate surfaces tape which had some adhesion but not enough for tight radiuses. I stopped at a couple places trying to find some pinstripe tape but turned up empty. I used one of the spray can caps and an exacto knife to cut the radius on the fenders. I didn't think of trying that on the tank. Lessons for next time.
Oh and gas will eat it just like plasti. I'm very good about not getting any on the bike anyway.
