Meet the Vintage Underground parts runner.

Just your average base model 67 Ford F100 long bed. We bought it last year and went through all the systems that needed it. All new brakes from the master to the drums, new carb, new seat, new tires, steering box, rust repair and much more. It does some light duty towing with an aluminum trailer and always has its bed full ferrying bits from shop to shop.

The non-assisted 4 wheel drums have got to go.

What is the easy button for front discs? Full I beam swap? From what?

Crown vic front swaps are what I have seen the most of.

I drove one recently with a Crown Vic front swap (and engine). The brakes worked very well but felt overboosted.

Front disk brakes from a 1970s F100 are basically a bolt on swap onto the existing twin I beam setup. I think the rear drum brakes on those trucks are a little bigger too. You could do the whole Crown Vic swap but simply changing the brakes is a lot easier - the twin I beam suspension isn't good for autocrossing but it still works well on the street. They built millions of them, and the trucks didn't all explode into flames the first time they went around a corner.

The first place I always check for disc brakes on anything pre-1980 is: scarebird

Looks like they have a bracket for 65-67 F100's. Uses 95-99 Dodge Ram rotors and GM calipers. Not sure if the lugs on that year F100 is 5 on 4.5 but the Ram should be. At $200 it's not the cheapest option but might be better than fitting 70's F100 parts.

They have a bracket to upgrade the rear axle too.

Just go to the junkyard and find a 1973-1979 F100 and grab all the disk brake parts. It's the simplest and cheapest way to get disk brakes for that truck. This is Grassroots Motorsports, right? If I had my druthers it would sit closer to the ground with a crown vic front clip but it isn't mine to mess with. Sourcing a junkyard front end would entail paying one of my guys by the hour to go on a wild goose chase looking for an old truck in a wrecking yard then refurbishing what we find.

The scarebird stuff requires larger wheels than what is on the pickup.

I would buy a 69 Dodge Charger and a Bright Yellow 73 Roadrunner to go with it... Maybe half a dozen or so mid seventies Coronets....

this is the truck he drove. p71 swap and all. brakes are very over boosted, but we might have found the fix to it.
