You will never be Turbo EFI Slant 6 cool. Ever.
Very cool article. Thanks!
One of the first car mods I ever did was a turbocharged 70 Chevelle. The turbo kit came off of a 81 Firebird. It was a 4 barrel draw through system. The output on the compressor was bolted straight to the intake manifold of the 250ci I6, and a J pipe connected the factory manifold to the turbine housing. I had it set for 5 pounds of boost and it worked surprisingly well.
It was nowhere near as clean a install as that Barracuda. This was early in the days of the internet. Pre-Google, pre-GRM forums. Pretty much all I had to go on was a well worn copy of Maximum Boost, by Corkey Bell, and the seat of my pants. I bought my first welding machine for that project from Walmart. That was a fun build.
The car is gone and the turbo is languishing on a shelf in my shop, but the memories will last a lifetime...or until dementia sets in.
Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
