Those look really cool, it would be interesting to see him create something the fits within the 818's design parameters.

Tried posting this to the FF forum but it seems the images there need approval before the post shows up. Here are some more views of a render I had posted a few weeks back. Tried to keep this one looking like a real car, fitting within the template, and with windshield, ground clearance, and legal height lights. Also gave it a nice place for a targa top to be mounted.

I really like the side exhausts. Frees up the rear since tranny will be there.

I liked the side exhaust too, but had to ditch it because plumbing the exhaust to the front rockers could be an engineering complication FF doesn't need to deal with. Instead I decided to have the exhaust exit high through mesh grill on the center rear panel inboard of the taillights. The center panel would be similar to the 360 modena challenge grill, not solid like an elise, but who knows, maybe it could be modular and changeable, and the customer could choose.

It would make it share some DNA with the GTM which has it's exhaust exit in a near similar location. There is actually quite a bit of room above the transaxle for the exhaust system. The stock wrx downpipe already heads to the rear of the car along the tranny and then would meet with the muffler, a single in a dual out unit, sitting above the transaxle. Seen the photo below

I tried to keep the front and rear overhangs as close to the wheels as possible, these are basically the minimum length and height dimensions allotted by the template in the profile view.

Unclebigbad, I posted this for someone else way back on page 12 or so:

In Flickr, try clicking the "Actions" button, then "View All Sizes", then select an appropriate size (probably "Medium 640"), right click the image and select "Copy Image Location" (Firefox) or "Copy Image URL" (Chrome).

After you copy the image URL, come back to your post here at GRM and click the camera icon and enter the image URL.

the reason for posting unfinished blurry sketches is to get the input of people before proceeding with a more refined rendering.

Oh wow it worked! Okay now that I know I will be posting revisions as I go. Its rough and I know my drafting skills aren't up to some of these aspiring designers, but round fenders and sexy hips always look good.

I don't know what look to go for.. Exoskeleton or a simple, refined design. I'm gonna try to mix em up

Add 1 big scoop in the front, 2 side scoops, and a central scoop in the rear for the intercooler. That would work, right?

I'll post some sketches soon

A fairly conservative design I drew, with a low beltline. I think it's a bit too angular.

Here is a preview for you guys of my first official entry. This is version 14 of a body shape that i finally settled on:) This was done in SolidWorks and rendered with the contour rendering feature on.

has kind of a Charger/R/8/TC vibe to it...which I like! I think the booty is a lil conservative, but the overall look is very well thought out! Nice.

MattPerez, I love it! I also like the back end a lot; almost gives me an R8 vibe. The contour rendering makes it look awesome, too, like an escapee from the Tron world. There should be another with the contours in blue and they will duke it out in an autocross battle.

Respectfully...I think there is too much Dodge in the front end.

This competition is really great, but you can make it even better in a simple low-cost way.

I am hoping you will recognize something like the Top 10 entries when the competition is done. 1st would obviously get the monetary prize. But the other contestants will benefit from the recognition of the Factory Five and Grass Roots Motorsports brands.

For example, if an 18-year-old kid in high school won 2nd place, it might help them gain entry into a top design school. It might help a college student get a scholarship. It might help an out-of-work professional get a job.

Further, you could provide this recognition by simply posting it on your website and providing a PDF certificate featuring an individual's design along with positive comments from the judges. This would make this contest have a lasting impact.

It's Monday, so that means we've got another weekly winner! Congratulations to Tim Perez for submitting this killer design in time for last week's deadline. There were some really good ones last week, and what I've seen over the weekend and so far today look to raise the bar even higher.

There are still plenty of opportunities to be picked as a weekly winner, so keep those entries coming in. There's no limit to your entries, so if you have updates or improvements on an earlier submission feel free to send them in.

Click here to see a gallery of previous weekly winners.

There may be additional awards at the end of the contest, but don't forget the weekly winners (see the post above) along the way.

Also, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place will all get real money and recognition for their efforts. How those winners leverage that success will be up to them, but you're right—they would look excellent on a resume or college application!

^^beautiful design^^ Its really nice, but I've been hoping for some designs a little simpler. I'm all for a windshield and top but how about something like an exo car with a body, lower profile less of a daily driver look.

Yeah i know. At first I had different openings and nothing looked right. I went with a wide opening and then filled it in. The first thing my wife said was viper from the front view. Thats easy enough to change. Here was the front without the grille.

On the back, the black sections were going to be mesh with 4 exhaust pipes stacked in there somewhere. I could have gone crazy with air diffusers and trim and everything but i wanted to keep it simple.

Have you considered no front opening? since the engines out back, theres really no need. if the design cant handle a full closed mouth, make smaller openings like NACA ducts or the like to feed brake cooling equipment. Also, Im loving the rear simplicity. Why not add to it by making the exhaust side exit. Its my new favorite design element! just a few ideas that came to mind. As it is, I really think youre onto something!
