I REALLY like this one!
Hello again, today we present you some proposals for the rear together with an image containing the best front ends of our design progress till now. We are going to focus on the back of our design for a while, until we find something good. Enjoy...

Thanas, really like that lower middle/left front view. it feels like it has a strong sense of motion and cohesiveness (i like 'em all honestly, but if i had to pick...). i really like how you tried the all-black bumper panel on that lower right one too - that's a cool look and to my eye gives it a bit of a menacing presence - something you don't find in a small car very often. Love the first/top rear end.
Sixten, the Carve looks like a ton of fun to me. the first thing i thought of was a "jeep wrangler" sense of adventure, like i'd be willing to drive it everywhere and get it dirty just bombing around and driving the hell out of it (which, coincidentally, is what subarus are great at!). i love that sense of minimal sheetmetal and open space too, really slams home the lightweight mentality.
Stavros, great render work. it's hard to get the lighting right on so many compound curves. looks very production ready! that defined fender and center hood line really set it off.
Arif, let's see some more complete shots. i feel like that has definite potential. i'm feeling a little shelby Series 1 in the front but the overall shape is pretty striking.
nice work guys. i just finished my first final comp for the side view....took me forever. and that was the easy one.... time to crack open another beer and plant my butt for a few....

I vote for the bottom one...keep it simple. Combine that with and youve really got something!
sixten; I like the Carve alot. Definitely an original design, especially compared to the few we've seen. The Carve and ScottyB's design are my favourite so far.
Thanks speedboy, kreb, thanas, and ScottyB. I've learned during this process that simple is better, and hopefully that will be reflected in the next concept. The Carve is meant more as an exo-car, but would be a logistical nightmare to build. Perhaps by using more carryover components in the next concept, fewer part breaks, and more easily-moldable shapes, some of these issues will be amended in the next concept.
I have to admit that this week's winner confuses me. A front engined car with a hood scoop, a spaceship windshield, and a tail bobbed off way too short for the tranny. Nice drawing and a unique shape but not even slightly usable for this application. I'm confused.
sixteen: Is the rear window actually there. If the air cannot flow through that is a giant parachute.
I like your design. I reminds me of a smothed out dune buggy for back roads and sunny days. If the weight could be kept under 1600 lbs it would be an absolute blast.
big bike performance for those of us that cannot ride any more.

you and me both. i can appreciate the aesthetics of the form but from an application standpoint it doesn't fit the needs of the chassis at all.

Probably wouldn't have been my pick either, but it was nicely presented and some of the other views were more compelling.
It also helped that the other leading designs for the week had already been a weekly winner once.
The good news is that being a weekly winner has little affect on the overall design competition; the eventual winners may or may not have been recognized as a weekly winner before.
Another teaser image by request.

sixten wrote: Nice sketches Thanas! I especially like what's going on so far in the rear sketch (3rd one down). This is the final iteration of the Carve, after which I'll begin on two new designs. This lacks a standard of cohesive design language and buildablity FF is looking for, but hopefully has steered clear of the "dune bugginess" that earlier versions expressed. Thank you for your guidance everyone.
@Sixten
I like this much better. Can you similate wind effects? It would be interesting to know what the airflow over the windshield looks like..

Ummm...pics or it didn't happen.
You holding out on us?

Teasers are irritating. Just show what you got. If not, I can understand because the main goal is the actual competition. However, in that case, why try to manipulate this thread and the people in it?

yeah, i'm no fun
speaking to what Olpro is saying...if i'm competing, i'm not going to show my cards early - i'll post everything up after it's been submitted. sketches and rough ideas are a different story though.
In reply to ScottyB:
Personally, I wouldn't show anything here cause you are giving other guys an unnecessary advantage to know what you are submitting. Of course, if this is just a fun exercise then fine, post and get comments and input... for whatever that's worth.
And, as I've said, by posting images here you open things up to questioning ownership of certain looks, etc. once the final decision is made. Credit for who came up with what based on the final decision could get messy. I will not show anything except to FFR as per their instructions. If they then want to post it that's their decision. I don't want somebody claiming I stole some or all of their design.

Fair enough. I'm 100% interested in this as an eventual buyer of the kit. So you can understand my impatience.
Besides, I can't draw and it seems like sofeware is $1000s.
70's package fun. more tape drawing than sketch. works really well with smaller wheels. gonna need as much weight in the front as possible.
My last design was called boring, so I turned it up to 11!
Behold! The F5LM!

Martini livery
Per's GRM LeGrand livery

Is this extreme enough for you?
