First Gen Ford Falcon. 1960-1963.

Am I wrong to clarify that *6 cylinder* falcons came with 4 lug wheels and V8s had 5 lug?  I thought that was a case but I may have been assuming they follow early Mustang convention

V8 wasn't an option until 1963, I think.  I'm not an expert on the early years, but the rear axle in the sixxer can't handle a V8. The five lug should indicate a 8" rear and thus a V8. In later years, the wagons all had 5 lugs no matter the engine to handle the extra weight.

It's pretty easy to forget (you don't see many original v8 cars for sale...or at all) and I'm forgetting or was never really that in touch with ddavidv's point about Falcons being around for a few years before they even had the V8 option.

Ford Falcon deluxe 4 Door Classic - $8,750 (Clovis - CA)

6 cyl / 3 speed.  New engine, new interior.  Looks like you could drive it home - only 2,600 miles from Clovis to Goose Creek.

That's not a '63. 64-65 body style.

That red 4 door above is overpriced. That's a 2 door price for something in that condition.

Funny.  I haven't seen any with a rebuilt engine and new interior for that money.  Is there a 2 door with those near you for that coin?

Edit: Also, appears to be a California car, not rotted to pieces.

Huh. I swear it said 63 last night, but yeah the ad clearly says 65. It was late.

I missed the rebuilt engine. Not especially valuable because no telling the quality of the work. Seats were redone, which is nice. But it's still a crew cab.

I couldn't find any 4 doors in a search today.  Unless CA prices are substantially higher that isn't worth more than $6500 with the bonus doors from what I've seen. There are too many 2 door Falcons to choose from that the 4 doors just aren't valuable.

Am I mistaken or did the OP want a 4 door or a wagon?

Maybe its my imagination...?

I can probably get away from the office for a long weekend. 1000 miles would be doable but 2600 would be work in 4 days in a 60s car. The right deal will come along at the right time and it'll happen. Unless I get distracted by something shiny.

This thread just makes me think of the Falcon rally cars that run mostly in Europe these days, and has me looking at Falcon suspension layouts and marketplace thinking "hmmmmmm....."
