Going to go to the hive for this one. Flashiest 60K track mobile for a driver thats an intermediate driver preferring lower maintenance and an automatic/PDK/DCT/etc. Give me your ideas for a family member on the hunt.

RS3, Cayman S. M2, M4, 997.2 are on the list. Trying to get an Evora on as well.....
Although dont trust the audi WRT to maintenance.

Spend the full $60k on one new/nice enough to have some form of warranty and then hope the pdk blows up during that period.
In reply to red_stapler :
PDK base 981 and 987.2 are creeping back under $30k. But they're going to have high miles and high mileage pdks have mixed results with heavy track use.
Flashy - check
Under $60k - check
Track worthy - check
2014 Porsche 981 Cayman S Coupe! – Fawsitt Motors No affiliation - just often has nice Porsche cars at a premium price

Wonder if they have proven reliable for HPDE duty.
Have not yet tracked mine extensively, but it managed fine through a couple of 100F days at High Plains Raceway.
It is, after all, pretty much an M240 of the last generation in a fancy dress from Toyota.
Are there any Camaro SSs with the 1LE option still on dealer lots? Would be flashy, fit under the price limit, and still be warrantied for track use.
Viper.... Can get a salvage title for under 60k pretty easy for a Gen II or Gen III GTS - and since it will end up with a salvage title it doesnt hurt to buy one from the get-go.
By "track mobile" do you mean street car that does well on the track? We can assume that a dedicated track car is out of the question?
981 Cayman S is a pretty good recommendation. They really need more front camber for heavy track use, and $20k+ PDK failures are uncommon but not unheard of.
Camaro SS 1LE would be a solid choice. Plenty fast and dialed for the track right out of the box.
If it were me I'd buy a cheap Miata and learn to drive it for a year, and spend the next year saving another $15k and planning on a C8.
You describe this person as an intermediate driver, so maybe they are already aware, but hopefully you are counseling them on cost of consumables, possible logistics (separate set of wheels/tires etc) and possible worst case scenario's.
If you factor all that in, then maybe a 30-40k car is more appealing. But if it's 90% about a flashy car as they define that, and 10% about it being a decent choice for track work, then maybe not.
An ND RF looks kind of flashy, is available with an automatic, and would leave a bunch of room in the budget for mods, tires, instruction, insurance, etc

It's the automatic requirement. No auto Vette's can handle the track, except for maybe the C8 but those aren't $60K.
My answer is also 981 Porsche Cayman S or 987 GTS with PDK.
