a couple quick pics of the dash mostly back together. Haven't decided if I"m going to flock the glove box also. But I have two of them, so maybe I'll do one and see how it looks.

thanks, there are a few little spots that don't look great up close, but that's mostly due to me not taking as much time as I should have on a few areas. I have no patience, lol.
Here's a couple close-up pics in case anyone wants to get a feel for the length/texture a bit closer up.
Any durability updates? I'm considering pulling the sagging leather off of the doors in my mustang and flocking the insert instead.
Pic of falling leather -
Here's a pic where someone reupholstered with microfiber suede -
Seems like the flocking could get close to the latter without the need to pay for re-upholstery. Just not sure how well it would stand up there.
In reply to DILYSI Dave:
Flocking is good, but believe me you dont need to pay to have that door card reupholstered.
If you have the ability to take apart the door card, use a pair of scissors, and can use spray glue then you can put just about any kind of material you want on there.
what he said ^^
That said, the flocking is holding up fine, though it is VERY dirty since this is a rallycross car and I don't do much cleaning/vacuuming/detailing, lol.
Already tried and failed to DIY reupholster. Pulled the leather off, used a stiff plastic brush to brush away the foam remnants, used 3M super 77, allowed it to tack like you're supposed to, etc. Looked great for about 3 days. Then it fell again.

I did the same thing with my headliner. 3 days after replacing my falling headliner, I had a falling headliner again. the answer is contact cement.
Nope. The answer is dap vynil top adhesive. That E36 M3 never comes apart. Contavt cement is only stable to 130 faeenheight.

Ready to try this repair again. Any suggestions on where to get the DAP stuff locally? There are a few places on the web, but it's expensive to ship.
Also, it looks like this stuff is intended to be sprayed. Any experience with brushing / rolling it on?
Super 77 is only good for art crafts. You spray on the glue but with a hvlp gun. You can brush it on too but you have to be careful not to over saturate so you don't end up with a wet looking spot.
since someone linked to this thread in another and I updated there, here's a repost for anyone interested:
So, as mentioned I did mine three years ago. Three rallycross seasons and the car mostly sitting outside and it's held up well. Really none of the material has come off at all, and it's still soft to the touch like when new.
That said, it is quite dusty right now. I've vacuumed it a few times with a brush attachment and that seems to work pretty well, but the gray color disguises the dirt pretty well anyhow.
Now, my dash crack repairs are starting to come apart though - this car takes a beating so that's no surprise. Still, you don't see them unless you look pretty closely.
Here's some pics I took a few minutes ago for you.
