Some time ago I came across an article about restoring old vinyl-covered foam sun visors as found on Japanese and some German cars. I could swear the article was on Pelican Parts, but have been unable to find it.
The basic technique involved making a slit(s) in the vinyl covering at the seam and removing the remains of the old foam. You then put the skin of the visor in a home made plywood jig that was clamped together, and injected expanding foam from a can into the visor.
The jig was designed so that in theory, you ended up with a nice flat visor when the foam expanded, and the jig allowed all excess foam to escape via the slits you made in the covering, rather than blowing out the seam all around the visor.
Has anyone seen the article or done this? I'm trying to remember the details of the jig design, and the exact expanding foam product used.
