Conscious but still in the car. I think they said it was a 170mph hit.
It is a good thing from a dissipation of energy stand point but it really shows how viscous a crash that was.
Another thing I noted was they said there were no soft barriers where they hit. Another case of assuming a car won't go someplace on a track.

As much as I like the concept of "racing through the streets of...." whatever city, that's really changing my mind about how much better it is to have large runoff space with gravel traps.
Good to see that shot of him kind of sitting up and talking to folks.
Looks like he just got up on the kerb and it all went pear-shaped.
Tight call using the medium tire for RUS there.
Without the crash, would Haas have been able to get both cars in the top 10 on the grid?
Red Bull on pole isn't a shocker, but Verstappen 4th isn't what one would have expected.
And they just showed Ocon almost doing the same thing Mick did. This track kind of sucks.
I hope, but suspect he will, that Mick can race tomorrow.
This looks to be one of the most exciting F1 seasons in recent memory.
Who placed the first, fourth, sixteenth trifecta bet? Big winner.
There's a few good reasons to not go back to that E36 M3hole track, and they don't all have to do with the lousy track and the lousy racing it puts on.

Yeah, I think they need to go put some soft barriers in that impact spot overnight -- and then cancel the rest of the races at this track.
I was too busy doing mountain bike stuff to watch quali, I did not expect to miss so much! Wow. I'll be very interested to hear what the difference was between the two Mercedes drivers. Looks like Red Bull and Red Cars are primed for a good fight.
