Have an '06 Pathfinder base model with the 16s - the tires are getting bald, and I'm trying to sell it pretty soon (otherwise I'd throw a set of 17s on it). The tires feel like they're way too wide for the wheel, and way too tall - getting a lot of excess body roll (could be the suspension, but the tires aren't helping right now). Should I stick with the OEM tire size, or go down? Feel like the 235/60s would aid tremendously with the handling, and the capacity/load of the tires shouldn't be compromised with the Kumho Crugen HT51s that I'm looking to throw on (XL load range).

It may look funny with lots of gap between the fender and tire.  I don't think that is the factory size tire and maybe just not enough tire for the truck.  Our shop Frontier Crew takes a 265/70/16 my Pathfinder takes a 265/60/18 these are stock sizes.

I'm going up to a 275/65/18 on mine so the tires don't look so small.

I'm okay with the gap, functionality supersedes appearance here. Not enough tire? The 245s are already looking too wide for the wheel - unless that's normal for trucks/bigger SUVs.

235-60s give you a sidewall height of 141mm.

245-75s give a sidewall height of 183mm.

That's a difference of 42mm or 1.653 inches (1  5/8").   Watch out for pot holes.

I think it will act better and look worse. Whether that's worth it is up to you.

about 4" smaller in diameter assuming you are using the same wheel

This seems like a terrible idea if you are trying to sell it.

I agree with this. If I went to look at what should be an average car, with the wrong size tires on it, I would immediately be suspect of everything and likely walk away.
