No sir, that way you can use whatever filler you'd like, in whatever position you'd like. There are a few flat surfaces around there that are prime locations. A simple hole saw will do the job, and covering the gelcoat in painter's tape will help prevent cracks. A flanged fuel filler will hide any scratches.

Great info, thanks Warren.
remember to use a heat gun & take your time, the hole will be cleaner.
Did anyone who has received their kit also receive some sort of paperwork package with a chassis number plate? I didn't and mrvwcastner says he didn't either, but this guy says he did: chassis-plate
My paperwork shipped later in the process. I received my frame first, and paperwork a few weeks/months later. The paperwork included the chassis number plate.

I picked my frame up on April 3rd, and I haven't received any paperwork yet.
I picked mine up at UPS & have moved since so Exomotive may not have my adress.

I should be separating the body from the ppf tomorrow. I keep checking back on this thread waiting for info on body work and to see that new wind screen.

Not sure if race wing or not...
Anyone with Corbeau Forza's on their cars, have you driven in them with a helmet on, and how did they fit/feel?
linuxd00d, 4moshin, I just talked to Kevin about your chassis number plates. He has them, he just doesn't have your confirmed address. Email info@Exomotive.com and he'll take care of you.
The Forzas are pretty great. A friend of mine just put a Forza Sport in his racecar, and it's pretty dang comfy, even at my 6'2" 240lbs.
I am pretty set on Forza's, my questions was more about how they feel with the helmet on.
They don't jut my head forward, if that's what you're asking. Pretty comfortable and close. I wouldn't wear a formula or motorcycle helmet with a spoiler.
That is exactly what I was asking, thanks Warren.

Warren,
How much "taller" are the upper shock mounts on the Exocet frame compared to a Miata? I've read somewhere there is a difference but don't recall by how much. I'm curious because my Koni Sports + ISC 1" top hats have very little droop travel when the ride height is set at a reasonable height (control arms parallel to the ground). I suspect I'll be going back to stock Mazda top mounts.
warren, i would like to get my # plates too.

I didn't get my paperwork or number plate as well. I am thinking of trying to get it registered and titled in NJ so I can drive it in the summer (want to go to a local car show or two in town < 1 mile away).
mrvwcastner / jjkarns :
I emailed info@exo last night like Warren said (thanks Warren). Kevin replied to me today with the tracking info for the plates and paperwork. Now that's good service! I suggest you send the same email with your mailing address.
Hey guys, I don't have access to any of the customer-facing stuff at Exomotive, I just do their engineering. Info@Exomotive.com is your best bet, and all I would be doing is relaying the same thing you'd be sending directly. Kevin has recently hired a full-time sale-support-marketing person, so responsiveness should be much improved.
Slosean, I've designed adapters that bolt onto the frame and place the tophat mounts at the OEM locations. They'll be going to manufacturing soon. The Exocet's tophat mounts are taller than in a Miata by 1.8" in the front and 1.2" in the rear. This is to set a reasonable ride height and geometry with regular Miata non-adjustable coilovers, but there have been a few customers with droop-limiting aftermarket shocks that want their tophats back where they belong.

Thanks for the info, it's much appreciated. I think the additional height of the upper shock towers will work fine if standard Miata top mounts (as opposed to extended mounts) are used with the Koni Sports. The 1.2" in the front should be okay. The 1.8" in the rear might be cutting it close but will likely work. If not it will give me an excuse to upgrade coilovers (like I need an excuse to upgrade anything).
I just sent mine. Hanging lights this weekend. Time to drive on the street.

Warren, how about some windshield teaser pictures. I'm sure you have something :)
JK, I was actually planning on teasing the design later today when I can call it "done".
Here's the teaser:
Just kidding:
As promised, it's removable and doesn't require welding or modifying the frame. It clamps on the dash tube and bolts onto the side mirror tabs. Many mirrors can use the protruding stud, but they can also be mounted directly to the windshield frame. There's a taller version in the works, too.

Looks fantastic! I'm assuming it will have an option for both bare metal and powdercoating?
