2022 Jeep Gladiator with Falken Wildpeak AT3W. These are the factory tire with ~25,000 miles. I drove through sand and noticed every other row of lugs is clean. This led me to checking out all four tires. The front tires are both showing this same wear pattern, every other row of lugs is shorter. The rears look fine. I haven't noticed increased NVH in the 18,000 miles I've put on the tires but they could have been like this when I bought it and I just didn't notice.

Is this normal? Something to be concerned about?

I have been looking at replacing these tires with something more in line with my use case but tires in this diameter get pricey and I don't want to spend that money until I need to.

What is your rotation schedule and pattern? That looks fairly normal for a solid front axle and too few rotations.

Just did a quick google search and saw a couple other people have similar issues, but no one could point to what it was or why.

Personally I'm not surprised, I think the wild peaks are hit and miss. Lots of people love them, and lot of people have problems. I had issues where I could never get them to balance so they always had a bad vibration at highway speeds....apparently a lot of other people did too. So I switched to continental terrain contacts and all my problems were solved.

thinking back, I may have had similar issues as you with my wild peaks and that might have been a culprit to my vibration at speed.

Agreed that comes from not being rotated often enough.  Swap front to rear for a while.

Rotate them more often, but that is completely normal wear for aggressive big tires, in my opinion.

As others have said, that's typical for a solid front axle that's in need of a tire rotation.

I was a tech at a jeep dealer for years. Tire rotations need to happen every 7,000 miles to prevent this.

Every 7000! Wow, alrighty then. I've never been a tire rotator before. My other jeep wears snows that aren't aggressive so I've never had issues I guess. I'll swap em and keep going. But might still look at less aggressive tires too. Thanks hive

On my gladiator, I rotate them every oil change.  Fronts get crossed to the rear to smooth out and the rears move straight to the front. M/Ts are more sensitive than A/Ts and A/Ts are more sensitive than street tires.

I have Wildpeak A/Ts on the van.  They are wearing like every other tread block is made from a different material.  Fresh alignment, rotation every 6-7000 miles.

Mine barely passed their first inspection after 16k miles, and they'll be bald before next year's inspection.

They're great.  Quiet, comfy, good traction... just wear like pencil erasers on some of the tread blocks.

I'm impressed by the NVH and snow performance of these tires. But looking at the way, "every other tread block is made from a different material" I can't believe they're as quiet as they are. I'm currently shopping a new set of tires for it. I wish tall and skinny with mild tread was more common.

I would LOVE some pizza cutters for the van, but you're right... finding an A/T under 245mm seems to be reserved for E-range dually tires

Most of my cars and trucks have allowed me to become a tad lazy about rotation. A few exceptions... and my 03 F350 FX4 (straight Dana 60 axle) is the most UNFORGIVING thing I've ever owned!
