We bought this B&M shifter for a T5 and are not having much luck digging up any additional info.

Everything looks correct for the application. Mostly trying to satisfy curiosity at this point as I have faint recollections of seeing this type previously, with the big square end on the lever, but no confirmation.

You're right.  It identifies as a T5 shifter.  :)

Larger bolt spacing suggests Mustang?

Sure.

I'm more wondering about when in B&M history they built this style shifter, and why I can't find hundreds of examples of them thru google.

Beyond my pay grade, but I agree.... strange stub

The knob in the listing looks like the stock knob from a fox body. The shifter might be an early version and maybe they changed the shaft in later versions? It is odd, for sure.

That's got to be from the 1990s or early 2000s. I have a B&M shifter sitting on the shelf from maybe 2010 and the base is similar but the shift lever is round.
