Hey new question,
Can I unplug the injector without pulling the intake manifold?
I had a ford 5.4 blow a spark plug out and in the 2 seconds it took me to turn the engine off I thought the thing was going to shake itself apart. No way could you drive it.
I actually think I could. I tried threading in a new spark plug and it pulled in before it stripped. The threads must not be that bad.
I'm home now. Videos later. 110 miles.
I was able to pull the injector clip without pulling the manifold but the helpful mechanic removed all if the coils and plugs so I had to reassemble.
I drove an integra two laps of a road course with the number two rod flailing out the side of the block once. Took the checker and got finishing money.
She had a burned out taillight bulb, so I decided to be super nice and replace it for her while I was waiting for parts.
Last night I'm putting new bulbs in, and I saw my keys (with hers on my keyring) sitting there in the trunk, and the conversation went like this:
"Self, don't forget those! The car is locked, and it would be awfully silly of you to lock them in the trunk"
"No problem, self, now that we've mentioned it, we won't forget. You know how that works. We write notes, and forget the notes, but still remember the thing we wrote because we wrote it down. Short term memory is weird"
"Sure is, good buddy. By the way, I'm done with this bulb. Let's button up the panels here on the interior of the trunk"
"Great work, pal, you're really a good wrench!"
:: slam ::
And then I drove 20 minutes to her house, got her spare keys, drove 20 minutes back, got her keys out of the trunk, and drove 20 minutes back to her house, gave her spare keys back, and then drove 20 minutes back home.
When I hear myself saying to myself anything starting with "Don't forget to.." i immediately, if at all possible, do that very thing.
I have found that those words tend to initiate some sort of memory time bomb.
Glad you had an option that didn't involve punching out a window :)
We've all been there I've found that when you're trying to do something nice for someone, stuff like this happens. Keep up the good fight, I'm sure your friend appreciates all your help!
And that is why if I'm working on a car, the keys do not leave my pocket unless they're in the ignition. Way too easy for them to end up in the wrong place otherwise.
I always leave the windows down when working on a car. I have gone through the back seat to get keys out of the trunk before.

TL;DW, I replaced all spark lugs and one coil. I tapped the hole for the insert, inserted the insert with loctite, put the plug in with anti-seize, and found that is was still missing. Another coil was dead, so I ordered another. It may have just gotten hit with the plug and other stuff flopping around in there, it was the one next door.
