looks like the daily streams have place holders up on youtube:
Day 1- 7:45am eastern tomorrow https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dc5Zae6fs6c (looks like today's tech & registration won't be streamed)
But competitors may upload their own videos on youtube / instagram. Might help to search by most recent: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=hot+rod+drag+week+&sp=CAISBAgDEAE%253D
Ahh, that explains it. Yesterday about 4pm I was driving East on the Ohio Turnpike and saw many drag cars, both trailered and driven, heading West (toward Michigan.)
I live about 15 miles from Day 2, Norwalk, OH. Im not sure that I can play hookie all day Tues to go spectate. I have gone in years past. But, it does mean that come Monday night, every hotel between my house and Norwalk will be filled with cool stuff. Also, if like last time, the main route near my house will be busy all Monday night with cool cars "making cool noises" up and down the way.
I recommend the same for the people in the other locations. Such as, if you live near Indy but can't go spectate, just head to the popular hotels near the event the night before and each parking lot will be it's own cool car show.
As I look at that map I can't help but think this whole event goes through "corn country." Could be a big year for E85 because its availability should be huge in all these areas.
To add to John's advice....if you want to see the drag passes be at the track early. These guys try and get their times done early to have transit time to the next venue, or repair time if needed.
LSfest East was this weekend too in Bowling Green. Should be some good vids from that too.
I would absolutely LOVE doing Rocky Mountain Race Week and the wife is all for it. I just have 2 issues: The Opel is not even really started and they have a 3000# minimum weight requirement (I am not sure if that counts driver though).
Today's livestream:
I've been a little 'off' the forum... are Nelson's there this year? Other notable/grassroots efforts to be aware of?
In reply to sleepyhead the buffalo :
The Nelsons didn't go, although I thought they were planning on it earlier in the year.

I'm curious to see who wins overall, since Tom Bailey is sitting this year out. He had the nasty alcohol fire on Sick Seconds 2.0 and was thrashing it to get it back together. But he caught Covid, and while he wasn't having respiratory troubles or anything, he was just exhausted for 3 weeks and didn't get much done. He said he could take Sick 1.0, but he's still not at 100%, so he's just going around with a camera busting everyone's balls. I know Joe Barry's car is 6.60 capable, but Dave Schroeder's new nitrous C7 Corvette also seems damn fast. I'd put my money on Barry though, the car has been around and together longer and going that fast on nitrous is hard on engine parts.
I really like the Pepsi Express VW Bug and it has a pretty cool story behind it. And the Divco milk truck with a twin-turbo big block Chevy that pops tiny wheelies is my absolute favorite.
I'm definitely interested in how the milk truck does. I snorted some coffee at my desk when I saw that thing pull the front wheels yesterday. I'm hoping the Burgundy Nova has better luck this year, that's a beautiful car. I think he had the motor let last year day one or maybe that was on RMRW last year.
A couple of friends of mine drove out from Washington State to compete. White Holden Caprice running 12's all motor and a teal 4th generation Camaro running low 9's with a turbo 3800.
So, I'm pretty sure I saw a Nelson-shaped figure spectating during yesterday's stream (not that I got to watch all of it)... which I can certainly condone. We should all play hooky from time to time.
Here's today's stream:
In reply to RacetruckRon :
this track (to my admittedly untrained eye) looks like it has a bunch of 'old timer drag strip' charm
In reply to sleepyhead the buffalo :
I've raced there many times, it really is old school. Just missing the old cooling tower off in the distance you raced towards...
I saw some cars today on I80 headed towards Michigan. Pretty cool to see.
Big lime green Plymouth GTX or RR or SB with 2 giant slicks on the roof.
I love America.
Day 5, final day of Drag Week. Looking forward to seeing some hail mary passes later in the day.

That diesel-swapped C10 is insane. Pops wheelies, does 9.50s, and he did multiple 1/4 mile-long rolling burnout with the trailer attached for the 1320Video guys

Looking at this photo, I see he has the CarbonMiata LED taillights on the car. He might be the only person running those, since I've heard they were rife with issues (didn't come with weatherstripping for the body and didn't use the OEM weatherstripping, bolt holes not lining up, lenses getting moisture inside immediately) I've seen numerous For Sale adds of those taillights that pretty much say "Never installed, can't install, maybe you can figure out how to make them work"
The Volvo just did a 6.93s quarter mile!
crashed upside down driver ok
That was bad. Very glad to see him getting out on his own and walking away.
