I am kinda bored with my Civic. I could spend money at some point on the suspension and adding a turbo but I am afraid I may still be bored with it. A very large part of me wants to get a MX6 GT or Supra MKIII or FC RX7 and sell the Civic or trade for one.

I always keep one beater around for when my projects cant move under their own power. Don't know your exact situation.

I have my Civic and my project Spitfire. I have put aside money for a backup car which I am getting soon.

Edit: By backup car, I mean backup truck.

In that case, I had some fun driving a 1994 JZ2GTTE Supra. That can be fun.

You mean a 2JZGTE?

Yes. I thought there was an extra T for the "Twin." Apparently I haz fail.

It was older than that. I don't remember what year. I just remember driving it.

Boring transportation means inspiration to work on the project and get it done.

All cars get to that point, sounds like you need a more exciting place to drive it.

But my project isn't going to be in any way road legal. I will probably hang on to my Civic until next year and then get something new.

I've owned both an MX6 GT and an FC RX-7. Apart from the non-rwd-ness, the MX-6 drives better. Really.

that explains why I get nothing done to my other cars...driving the Ti is NOT boring..

Keep the Civic, do the suspension. The car is way more fun with 350/450 springs, and some AGXs. Buy another Spitfire to tool around in. You know you want to!

If the body is in good shape, that's a pretty good buy.

IMHO, you may find caring for a Spitfire race car will take up most of your free project money and time...

I vote the mx6. I bought one on a whim for 400$ and that thing is a blast to drive, for all it's plowing, wallowy, blown suspension goodness. Also, we need more mx6 GT owners for the $2012 mx6 Mafia.

I argue this point. The RX7 is much, much, much more fun all the way around. Every enthusiast should own a rotary-powered vehicle at some point. I would go for an FB RX7 instead, though. It's really just fun to drive in a way that only a lightweight, rwd, power nothing car can be.

As you get older and more advanced into life, where some real responsibilities become more important (not a slam, but I understand where you are in life, I was there about 6 years ago, a real life job with real life constraints plus kids plus a wife etc have happened since) you'll find that having one extremely reliable, boring DD that ALWAYS starts and NEVER required fiddling is a super nice thing to have. Leave the Civic as is, no turbo, no suspension. Spend your efforts on a project that you can drive to work or whatever, but always keep something just like that Civic around. It can't be worth much actual dollars, but it's worth a lot to you as a reliable DD.

Just my opinion, coming from the guy with a project car and a PT Cruiser that's as stock as it gets.

I'm still DD my 92 VX. Dead stock, except for coilovers. Every month I drive it, it's paying me!

Word. One day I'll even heed that advice...

I will admit my FC was a base model, but it was in very good condition. I have to maintain that my MX6 GT, aside form the lack of power-oversteer, was better than the FC in every way. I was disappointed by the FC.

Yeah, it probably explains why I haven't started my project 63 Midget. I have a running restored Opel GT, dd an RX8 and have a Miata autocross toy. So I'm guilty too.

I usually get bored with my currently daily driver every year, but the one I have now hasn't hit the same point of boredom. Never though I would hang onto a camaro longer than a miata, focus svt, or nx2000. But it is just as economical on the highway and a monster when I get on the skinny pedal. Interior leaves much to be desired though. Dead reliable too.

These are words of wisdom.

I wish I would listen to them (been contemplating it). Unfortunately my "toy" car is the 06 S2000 with zero reliability issues. The "boring" car/DD is a modded 94 Saturn wagon that I am frequently tinkering with. Hopefully it will be fully sorted shortly (recovering from some rear-end damage from a taxi at the moment).

Do the suspension on the Civic. It will surprise you how much better/fun it is to drive. Also just throw a cam/s in it to give you some added straight line entertainment. They're super cheap.

PS: Details on the Civic? I have a weird honda motor itch that i need to scratch.
