It's common enough that you can buy a patch for it. That repair is on my short list.

Rust under the battery is much more common, but this car doesn't have anything there. This was from unattended acid along the top of the battery.

Funny, that. The targa is more the worst of both worlds. It's just as flexy as a cabrio, and not as open.
Have you actually got first hand experience of one? Just wondering...
Yeah, I've driven a few targas in my life. I like them, don't get me wrong, just saying... Now, to be fair, I've never tracked a targa, but my legal speed street driving in one gives me the impression that it's a bit flexible.

I prefer the targas and actually sought that specifically when searching for my 911. I don't like to be fully exposed like in a cab and the small sunroof in the coupe is a joke, so to me the targa was the best of both worlds. Then again I'm a sucker for cars with Targas and T-tops....currently have two targas and two t top cars.

I personally love Targa cars (Ferrari 355, 2nd Gen MR2, s3rd Gen Supra, 914, Solstice Coupe, etc), just not on the 911 (in looks anyways).

FYI Woody, uShip might be able to ship them in an enclosed truck/trailer for cheap... We can solicit bids if you're interested. Then we'd be insured, and it wouldn't involve a bus.

One of the big advantages of Targas is that you get more rear headroom - my wife and my mother (who are roughly the same height) fit in the back of my Targa fine, but as we recently noticed, not in the back of a coupe.

Still I think if I buy another classic 911[1] I'd buy a coupe.

[1] If I don't end up with an NSX instead.

IF I were to buy a targa 911. it would have to be one of the early cars with the zip out rear window

Good luck. Soft Window Targas are as rare as hens teeth!

Maybe leave out the volcano mural -

Alas: No Cragar S/Ss in 5 x 130.

I never saw the allure of Cragars anyway... to use the overused phrase.. they seem "played out"

I never really liked Cragars either, but I love that they'd be so wrong on a Porsche or a W123 Mercedes that they'd be right.

What you talkin bout Willis? The most common Cragar on earth is "Uni-Lug" meaning it'sgot oval holes. Them bad boys are bigger than 130.

I actually looked into that, but I don't think they are that big. I've heard that it can be done, but it's kind of a force fit.

Some Uni-Lugs go out to 5 on 5", no force-fitting there.

5" = 127 mm

Wow, you guys are good!

I'm not ready to part it yet as I have a guy coming to look at it tomorrow, but, just out of curiosity, what are you looking for?

Nope, but I haven't been trying that hard either (no CL or eBay).

I'm still tidying up at this point. I removed the cruise and A/C compressor. I want to drain the old fuel, do a compression test, change the plugs and clean up the brakes. It also needs a throttle cable. The pedal cluster will be coming out this week for sandblasting, paint and new bushings.
