I sold my decent driver for $2500. It really needed to have the entire suspension gone through. And it leaked oil. And the paint needed some help. And the A/C and some other stuff in the interior didn't work. People seem to be asking $5K for cars like mine. But they literally show up for years in my auto trader searches.

I say you should mount snow tires on those cookie cutters and come rallycross.
We had a 944 on summer tires come to one event last season. It looked like he could have done quite well with some traction.
You know, I have a set of Falken rally tires at my parent's house...
Sounds like you have no excuse to not do it
i still wonder why i have not run into you yet around town.

I'll get it looked up when I officially take ownership later this month.
Still time for a "what car" thread?

Sounds like a plan. Have any interest in working on a little motorbike this weekend and watching the Stupor bowl?

I had one a few years ago, bought in pa for 2000 with recent clutch, tbelt, water pump done and 180k
Drove for a year, did minor repairs like cam cover gasket and fpr, and sold for 2200 with around 205k
Was a fantastic car and only left me stranded twice...which is record setting for these from what i hear.
Wouldnt mind having another....if budget allowed for another ride.
Enjoy it

Mine never left me stranded. The DME relay did go out when the car was sitting in the garage.
Brad, don't forget to keep one of those relays in the glovebox.
i can't stand the interior of the early '44. make mine an '85.5 or '86 so I can have the updated dash and still rock Fuchs!
still, a nice pull for $1500. congrats on the find!
Mine has never left me stranded either. I did have the ring and pinion go out about ten blocks from my house once. That was a violent 10 block drive, but it didn't leave me stranded!

The 2nd key hole behind the driver side door always cracked me up on those. It's how you arm the alarm!
Yep, and the alarm key is always lost, and the alarms never work.
Mine was lost too, but you can re-key them to the ignition key(most of them anyway). I found out mine works when I went to remove the cylinder to re-key it without disconnecting the battery first.

I am apparently the only person alive who prefers the earlier interior. It makes the car feel more classic or something. Maybe it just takes me back to my youth.

No you're not, I'm right there with you.
The early interior has it's charms, but it feels way better in the 924. The 944 deserved the newer interior, which is actually quite stylish and functional IMO.
Zermatt Silver is the same color as mine! And do I really have to tell you to just look for the option codes decal under the rear hatch carpet?
Wanna buy a set of Sport Seats?

Yes, but the shipping from WA state would slaughter me. (look into shipping them with greyhound?)
I can take them apart into halves and/or ship Greyhound. They need upholstery work anyways, so it's not like they can damage them. I can have them out this weekend...
Click my cone, go to my garage, and look at 944. There's like a zillion pics

Looks nice Brad! Reminds me of my ratty '86 951 that I paid $2250 for, but the body and interior on mine were in horrible shape and it needed the suspension done (so not really anything like yours). Actually you sold me parts for it when you were in ATL. I ran it at my first ever HPDE and managed to simultaneously kill the slave cylinder and burn an exhaust valve during the last session. Fixed both and sold it on for what I had into it.

A 951 is one of my dream cars, but I am inteligent enough to stay away from one costing 2250 aside from as a parts car.
I remember selling parts to you Scott, I never forget a GRMer!
I'm glad you got out from under the turbo for what you had in it, perhaps one day, when you have forgotten about that debacle, you will find another one, in better shape, that you will love even more than your E36.

unfortunately i will be staining/polyurethaning doors for a customer all weekend. i'll be listening to the game out in the garage most likely, huffing poly fumes. i need to rebuild a carb for my yamaha, never tried it before.
Congrats Brad, and add me to the terrorist group this Spring, I can make the drive in this 80's sports car

That doesn't look like it would fit a Supra engine, transmission, and wiring harness in the back! (or nearly enough whisky...)
Congrats dude! I wasn't sure "the porsche expert" would ever actually get one.
