4 QA1 rod ends, alloy steel threaded connector for them $18

OR

stock thin tube steel sway bar links with rubber crappy swivels $28 per side

so via mcmaster carr i get parts that i can just say "because racecar" when someone asks, for 1/3 the price of buying chinese garbage parts store parts that will break in a year. they also would be too long now since said vehicle has been lowered.

pics forthcoming, eventually, probably in their own thread about the vehicle they are going on.

McMaster is one of the places I spend way too much money at. But I get some really cool stuff.

I too am an McMaster addict. Where else can you find all the funky hardware you need, order it at 2PM and have it the next day?

McMaster-Carr rocks. Solid urethane motor mount kit is one of my favorite purchases. I've done a few of those. 1/8" stainless steel pop rivits WAY cheaper than fastenal.

They'll send you a free 3 inch thick catalog - much better than that internet thingy.

McMaster Carr rocks

Grainger's OK for a lot of stuff too, but Carr's better.

How do you obtain this printed catalog of which you speak?

I have purchased from them on many occasions but when ever i ask about a printed catalog they say no! I do have one of their older editions however. The good thing tho is that on their web site it's easy to find what you're looking for. Where I live order by 2 PM and I get it by 2 PM the next and that's regular ground!

McMaster-Carr paper catalogs have become all but impossible to get anymore unless your employer is a major enough purchaser.

That said - and I was a hardcore McMaster paper catalog loyalist - they have the absolute best and most intuitive website, and I can build orders, and "engineer by roaming" even faster than with paper.

Why, just today I put together a 47 line/$4k order of stuff for my prototype shop at the lab.

McMaster may have the best web catalog on all of the internet. Give it a shot.

Hrmmm... guess i haven't tried it in a long time then. I'll geek out on it tonite. Got a bunch of miscellaneous stuff i need to order.

One Industrial Design project I worked on a few years back was a big website that involved a team of all sorts of interweb experts- backend, middleware, and GUI. After looking at tons of sites McMaster Carr was the winner of the best designed large scale buy stuff website by a wide margin. I think it is a great site. I wish my brain was organized half as well.

+1 for their website. They've got CAD drawings and relevant links and candy.

The CAD drawings are super handy when they exist. We buy a lot of stuff there. For whatever reason, their base shipping is essentially next day for our shop.

I love McMaster's website. For our FSAE project, it's seriously badass that I can get CAD (in sldprt, not just IGIS or STEP) of every little nut and bolt we need, with the occasional exception of some odd NAS hardware.
