Did anyone else notice that at the end of the thread he mentioned that he had put a Northstar in a Lotus?

Seeing as how he's Dutch, or at least the forum is, the shop probably wanted too much for fan belts and he had this northstar laying in the back yard, so,....

LOL Pennocks is the website for Fiero performance worldwide.

The builder is Canadian, so yeah it is easier to build than buy ;)

He actually mentioned that he was going to start that process on the first page.

I still like the Audi V8 in the Esprit, much less adapting needed to mate the engine to the transaxle, the rest of the work is very similar.

But the Esprit isn't a 6 speed manual, right? He had to do a bunch of extra work because he's using the 6 speed manual transmission. For reference, the Northstar bolts up to the stock Fiero 5 speed (Getrag 282) with only one change required - clearancing the bellhousing ribs for the starter nosecone. You also need a custom/modified flywheel (the Northstar has never been sold with a manual trans) and if you want to get fancy there is one bellhousing bolt that doesn't mate up either, that takes a small adapter bracket to correct. I've got all the parts to drop a Northstar into my '88 Fiero GT, just haven't got around to it. Are you doing anything this weekend? After you're done helping me install it, I'll help you install your Audi V8 into your Esprit and you let everybody know which you prefer.

Wait, you can get a G6 with a manual transmission?

I love Pennocks, you can spend hours going through the insane build threads on there and realize how much one really can do with very little. How come there aren't more build threads on GRM anymore?

Uh, Bryce I was talking about putting the Audi V8 into an Esprit versus putting a Northstar into an Esprit. The Audi 6-speed transmission bolted up to the Audi V8, he just built a strengthening plate and had to buy two engines since the first was knackered.

If I were doing a Fiero, yeah I'd probably go Northstar with a 5 or 6-speed (depending on budget of course) especially after seeing this thread.

This weekend, I'm going to be working on my 924 or helping a friend pick up his first Porsche, a 924 turbo. Otherwise I'd probably help you out.

Hope to see you at the track sometime soon!

I take it that a LSx engine doesnt simply bolt up to any transaxle?
