GRM'ers
I am currently enrolled in graduate school. In my research class we were tasked with creating a survey and writing an essay on it. I chose to create a survey on choosing a second car. Which is something I was struggling with anyway. I had decided that I will gift myself a toy car after graduation. So the survey I created was built to assist me in making that decision. It contains 19 cars of interest, and multiple components that require you to enter data. Everything is based on a 1-5 scale. The survey is very quick and is purely based on your personal opinion.
That being said, the following are some requirements I had for the vehicle that lead to my choices. The car must be able to carry 3 people. The car must be a traditional three pedal manual transmission. The car must be less than $10,000 (drive-able). The car can not be Front Wheel Drive. The vehicle will be used as a weekender with the potential to participate in up to 3 driving events a year. My main focus will be handling and braking. Power ratings are not as important.
I need at least a dozen surveys to be filled out. Please PM me if you are willing to help. I appreciate your time.
Thank you

Can we just skip the bullE36 M3 and decide on the Miata with a hitch mounted rear seat?
E30, P71 to round out the GRM trinity...
I'm game for your survey though (does that mean responding here?) - I remember the school thing. Not by much though. They say as you age, memory is the second thing to go. Can't remember the first...

daaaaahhhaaaaa. Thats awesome
Thank you to all that have volunteered to participate. I really do appreciate you spending the time on this. I have responded to all that PM'ed me. At least I believe I have. I am eagerly awaiting your responses.
Thank you
Zack
So, I gotta ask. For those who took it, what topped your list?
I was a bit shocked to see the WRX take the #1 spot. The one I expected to take pole was the BMW 325is (which landed a disappointing 6th place)
Good times.
In reply to Hungary Bill:
I had a similar situation when I ran my numbers. I was expecting the mustangs to top the list. But both the 240sx topped my list, followed by wrx, then then 325is. the mustang and camaros fell in the middle of the pack.
In reply to thunderzy:
Apparently you and I have similar tastes! Both 240sx-s topped my list as well, followed by the wrx and (surprisingly) Foxbody Mustang..
PM sent in case you still need a few people.

M3 topped my list, followed by 240sx. But I'm assuming this is based on Zack's weighting of attributes against my perception of each car.
I voted with my wallet and bought a 330i ZHP, but would have accepted a M3/4/5 if I could have found one in good enough shape.

That's more like what I thought my list would look like! I thought, though that the american candidates would top our lists based on cost of parts, aftermarket support, and enthusiast support. It doesn't surprise me too much to see the 240sx up there though. Big enthusiast market there.
I haven't filled mine out yet - sorry. Still need me to do it?
Also, I am a bit confused, everything is 1-low, 5-high, but that seems contradictory on categories like 'aftermarket support' and 'cost of mods'. (a 5 in both seems worse than a 5 in the first and a 1 in the second)
