The new layout has improved since first being unveiled and there are several improvements over the previous version. However, I'm finding myself visiting GRM much less frequently. I think its mostly how threads are displayed after I click "latest comments". I used to be able to wiz through this page and pick out new/interesting titles. I would check GRM probably 10-15 times per day.
Now that page is very bulky and tedious. I check in maybe 1-2 times per day, if at all. Just wanted to give a "heads up". Thanks,
I think we need to bring bac the GGA thread
I agree with Lof8, but I disagree with Donebrokeit. Sorry dude.
I'm still here as much as I was before. I don't find anything objectionable about the new layout. I really don't get why everyone hates it. It looks different but works the same. I'm not scrolling anymore than I did previously.
Oh, well. Guess I'm the only one who is content.
I'm ambivalent about the GGA thread.

Gga was unnecessary imo. The software makes my phone drag ass. That is all.

I like the new format better on my phone than the old format. I'm trying to get used to the new format on my computer, but I come here for the content not the interface.

I'm confused...It's just a list of topic titles...What's so different about the way they are displayed now that is causing so much trouble scrolling through them?

You'll be back.
I got tired of the constant fighting so I left for nearly two years.
I don't think anybody noticed.
In reply to Lof8:
I don't care for the new site format either. 99.9% of my interaction with the forum is from a desktop, Not a phone, so that "improvement" is unseen for me.
Quick tip that you can still (as of right now) get the old forum look if you enter throught the Classic Motorsports portal. click here
BUT, that means the "latest topics" link ONLY takes you to the ones from Classic site, so it's pretty much worthless, except to read the Build Threads.

I'm not going to leave. Its just not as quick and easy to kill a few minutes. For that reason, I don't come by as frequently.
Here's a piece of oddity.
Come into the board form the Classic Motorsports page and the board is in Classic format. The cars are older and so is the board. Not sure if that will last but it might help those who resist change.

Can you give me some specifics as to what you don't like there? The more specific the feedback, the better we can tweak stuff.
Thanks.
In reply to David S. Wallens :
I would like to see some differentiation between threads I have and haven't clicked on like the old board had. If the thread title font got smaller after it was read I would read everything.

Hey David, I know I'm not the target, but I do think at scrolling through the forum titles is a bit disconcerting with the size of the title name vs the status below (# of posts, started by, etc, etc). I think reducing the topic size a few points would go a long way.
If I can get greedy, the pure-white background is a bit of an eyestrain.. Perhaps a grey would work a bit better? We struggled with this in our desktop software...
Oh, and if you don't fix this, I'll still obsessively refresh the page throughout the day, so there! And I won't renew my subscriptions until my 10 years run out!
Thanks for the feedback. Working on things right now.

Make it look like this only without all that nonsense we can find somewhere else on the site if we want to look at it (down the left side)

I don't mind the new look, I think the only thing I would like is a "dark" theme to choose from. Black back and light letters is nicer on my eyes.
E: Like this, but with some lovely pandering thrown in.
David,
I wrote you an email that started as a post but I decided to not post or send it until Irma passed and until GRM had some time to circle back to some semblance of normalcy. I wrote it from the bent of being a business owner and how I see this new format and as such I felt that it would be better to send it personally to you or whom ever would most benefit from it. The reason for not posting it is I do toss people under the bus and as such felt it best to be kept it off the forum.
The other reason for holding off on it is I also came to realize that who am I to comment on a free service offered by GRM? It is GRM's website and there forum and who am I to say anything about it at all? It is like saying thanks for the free Pizza and then complaining about it. That is just not right!
Im ambivalent towards the change. The frequency and duration of my visits hasnt, and likely wont vary. I dont understand the lamentation over white space or scrolling.
That said, I wouldnt object to migration to a more mainstream software if one were available that allowed posts to follow and stay tied to their authors, and still allow GRM to do what they do (i.e. advertise and such...).
So you know, my opinion and a dollar combined will get you something that costs a dollar...before tax, so take it for what its worth...
In reply to David S. Wallens :
I think it has to do with the thread titles being so big and bold and the gaps between thread titles. It just does not flow as well. On my phone, I can see 5 titles with the old format and only 3 on the new format. I know i sound like a whiner and it seems very insignificant when I sit here and type it, but it does keep me from visiting as much as I used to.
I didn't mean to imply that I don't like the new format, but I think that it is a little more difficult to quickly sort through the Latest Topics in my mind. I think it's the large font, which is odd because I once sent an email to Tim stating that I thought some of the magazine fonts were too small. The white background doesn't bother me. I dislike reading white type on a black background though.

Look for an tweak soon that should make you happy.
PS to above: "Soon" hopefully means later today, but let's see how it all goes.
