For the first time in forever, we watched some Initial D--the Legend 1: Awakening movie.
Suddenly I have an even greater need to put some Watanabes on the Miata.

I'm sure I'm not the first to try this, but I started writing an American adaptation not too long ago (and I've been meaning to get back to). Instead of an 86 belonging to a tofu shop, it's a Mustang SVO that belongs to a pizza delivery place.
I picture the series finale being a run against an imported 86 that's prepared the same way as Takumi's in Initial D.
Ha, that's awesome. Back in school, my friend and I came up with something similar: Pizza Dude. But maybe more Repo Man.
Super Eurobeat songs are always on my constant repeat playlists.
Having watched the original series from start to finish multiple times and having gone to see the Awakening movies in theaters a few years back.
very VERY big Initial D fanboy.. or as my buddy referred to a few of us.. Initial DORKS.
In reply to slowbird :
There is something cool about a Sileighty--one of my faves back in Gran Turismo.
For a lot of people my age it was Fast and the Furious that got them into messing with cars, but it was Initial D for me.
When I bought my FX16 back in 1987, they also had AE86's on the lot. The 86's had live axles and just did not handle as well as the FX16. Little did I know 8 years later an anime would come out drastically changing the direction of the value of these two cars.

I may have checked if I can get Watanabes to fit the BRZ, but apparently I need a Bunny Rocket to make them fit or something.
As far as centering around pizza delivery, it would be mighty ambitious to play in the same pool as Hiro Protagonist driving the Deliverator in Snow Crash.

I got into Initial D because there were watch threads on RX-7Forum.
This was back around Second Stage...

That'd look pretty rad.

You could also try some SSR Speed Stars or their Formula Mesh wheels for some old-school charm like on this FR-S:

It looks like you can get them to fit, but they are not cheap...

But they're so perfect.
The legend movies have the manga anime art style. Pretty cool. It's like moving manga now. And the story line has been concise, modernized, and uh.... "pc culture" inclusive.
Man, I love me some anime car series...
Well, F1 now has active aero (DRS) and boost buttons... Time will tell...
Ex-Driver is getting more possibly relevant as time goes on!

Note that the car in the pictures is sporting a Rocket Bunny widebody kit. I don't think I've seen Wats with anything approaching the required offset to fit under the stock fenders on a Frisbie.
I have yet to find out if Speed Star RS-8s were available in 5x100.
Reminds me I lent the Blu-rays of all 3 Legends movies to a co-worker a while back... forgot who though... LOL
But graphically the Legends movies are great... and nice nice summarization of relevant coverage from the series. Only thing missing was music from M.O.V.E. ... just not the same withou that group doing the music...
