Carrol Shelby his self, once made a fast and well handeling (for the times) E36 M3 box. But with one of his quotes being "a E36 M3 box, is still a E36 M3 box", even he knew what he built...
Big fan of the second gen prius, I find them quite fun to drive as well! I also find my first gen xb fun to drive as well if that's any context...

Where's the build thread?

Just looked at the site, and one of their product reviews in the news starts with "This company makes Toyota Prius lift kits and people are actually buying them. We're not sure who asked for this, but we're glad they did."
Yup, it's just really berkeleying good at being an A -> B car with a hatch that gobbles a surprising amount of E36 M3 while being very reliable and inexpensive to own and maintain. I bought my '12 at 83k miles and the only problem I've had was that the 12v battery died over the weekend. I still need to get that sorted, but I've been driving the Miata and it's fallen down the priority list.
I've only driven one (a 2nd gen) and I don't know if it was representative. I found it to be vague, numb, and worst of all, the hybrid arrangement basically contrived to be even mushier than a mediocre automatic.
But it belonged to some very non-car-friends, so... Unmaintained and probably half dead? Or are they just like that?
Every time we start looking at the next car I give them a ponder because of the utilitarian efficiency, but... 20 minutes driving that thing several years ago left a bad taste in my mouth. It was considerably less fun than our Leaf, which was numb but at least inputs corresponded to results promptly.
I remember racing against a 300000 mile prius. 5 slow laps to charge the battery and then they'd get a hot lap.
My friend bought a second gen to use for Uber a few years back. Got it cheap($1200) because carmax said the batteries were due for replacement. He's put gobs of miles on it with only tires. Faster than it should be, quieter than expected and super practical.
