Originally when we bought my wife's E300TD, it was absolutely flawless. Of course it now has dog puke in the carpet, hail damage, and some very minor mechanical issues I'd like to address. Whereas before I wanted to keep it pristine to protect the investment, now I'm just ready to break out the sawzall

The tranny is a 722.608 5 speed auto that is showing signs of death. She had originally wanted a manual, but since they didn't make US W210s with that option, it was not in the cards. However, I gotta think that there is some way to do it. I know the SLKs came with a 717.46 manual as well as a 722.605 auto. Any hopes of stuffing in a stick? Were there foreign market W210s with a manual option? Any insight you can muster would be great. I'd love to get a manual in there and avoid the finnicky automatics.

German market W210s were available with a manual transmission. Many were diesels and many were used as taxis.

Do you know if it was the 717 tranny they used? If so they are readily available here, so it might just be as easy as grabbing some peripherals from Europe.
