Tom Bailey's channel following along. Crazy to see the bit where guys broke a rocker arm in their big Gene Fulton mountain motor, called to see if he could overnight rocker arms and he said "I'll do you even better." He hops in his own personal small airplane, flys up their way, lands in the field next to where they broke down, and delivers a rocker arm personally.
A couple of friends of mine (brothers) are doing drag week in a yellow, stock, automatic C-6. Drag tires mounted on a custom targa roof (terrifying).
They're having fun and running 11.7-12.5

I am very curious to see a photo of that targa top setup.
In reply to Puddy46 :
It's in hot rod magazine photos.
In reply to Ranger50 :
Thank you! That's a heck of a setup.
Recap of todays drive: I would have wished they sent us down the tail of the dragon then have to deal with the outskirts of Charlotte traffic... on top of the up and down, left right to get to the check off point.

My race team spans Spartanburg to the Outer Banks. We have a whole slew of jokes about Charlotte traffic.

It would be funny seeing a bunch of these cars with giant rear tires, spools, skinny's on the front with little steering lock trying to get through there pulling a trailer.
Saw two cars pull into the holiday inn express in Johnson city (giggidy) around 10 pm tonight. We had just grabbed food and swmbo was hangry so I didn't get to check out the lot.
We will be there tomorrow, and in the general area until the weekend. Let me know if you need any help!
Here and I have the best pit spot ever.
Lets get day 3 here in Bristol started!

Tom Bailey and Steve Morris said the one year that the hurricane hit the area where they were traveling (Drag Week 2018, I think, because they had Sick 1.0 and 2018 was the last year it ran at Drag Week), Hot Rod Mag basically told the drivers to use whatever route was available to get to the next stop. Well, they inadvertently ended up going over the Tail Of The Dragon, in the rain, and they said it was incredibly sketchy. It also twisted the splines on the axles in the rear end, and it overheated the rearend to the point that it was blowing fluid out both rear axle seals and filled the inner rim of the wheels with differential fluid.

Oh man thank you! The new car is so menacing!

How out of place would my 911 be at one of these events?
^ Not at all 996 turbo is a surprisingly solid obscure drag car, they're fast, they're reliable, I would imagine they street drive better than most traditional drag cars.
According to the Shelby Dodge and Honda friends that have done drag week everybody is pretty welcoming to weird stuff as long as it and the people bringing it are cool.

Case in point- there is a purple elco that is running a LS but backed by some weird BMW taptronic 8spd transmission that runs off the factory GM canbus. It's all just 0's and 1's.... lol
Didn't a 997 TT that went 9s do Drag Week once? It's hard to keep track of all the different drag and drives anymore though.
The track is plain painfully slow today.
13.4/13.44 on both d group passes. Back in the lanes for the all run group now...
Vanderhoof 7.65
goldstone 6.65@219? - fixed a leaking pinion seal prior to hotel arrival
13.28@109?
Track is plain slow. Normally hit the 7500 limiter in the speed trap. Currently hitting it 20' beyond the finish line.
