I continue to enjoy the show, thanks! Re MR2, I was thinking that another factor in the Miata blowing away the 3rd gen in terms of sales was the absence of an automatic trans for the MR2. Thoughts?

That is certainly part of it. The lack of a real trunk and the unique styling is what really did it in my opinion. It's a shame because they are great to drive.
singleslammer said:It's that time of Sunday again! We posted episode 7. If you have questions or want to talk about something in an episode, please email us at junkconisr@gmail.com. If you send mean comments, I will forward them directly to Alan.
Bring it on, nerds. At this point in my life I'm pretty well used to being yelled at.
I listened today on this morning's hour drive to first customer. As for the car that is unsure if it is domestic or European, my guess was Saab 9-3 of the GM years but your answer was better.
Enjoyed.

Howdy folks!
We're still recording episodes and I'm editing them as I can. We should have a new one ready to post this Sunday.
I thought I'd take a minute and mention that we appreciate all the support here and we'd love it if you could rate and review us on your podcast platform of choice.
Hopefully that activity will help push us out to some other folks who might enjoy as well.
Thanks again!
Alex
Episode 8 is up today.
Have a listen and spread the word. We appreciate it!
Here's a link to the Episode on the hosting site. You can search Junk Connoisseurs on your app of choice as well.
Made an impromptu trip to KY after work today and decided to finally give these a listen. I got through the Syclone episode on the way down and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. I'll have to start listening more often and keep up to date.
Fantastic...thanks EvanB for listening and letting us know.
Positive feedback keeps us going!
I believe there's an episode locked and loaded for Singleslammer to pull the trigger on Sunday. Don't touch that dial!
I've been enjoying the podcast. Nice work!
I'll just leave this here...

It's "opportunities" like this that reinforce the idea that I've missed the boat on the heyday of cheap Fiero ownership. Oh well...there are other fun vehicles to play with ;)
Episode 9 should be hitting the podcast wherevers right about now.
If anyone has questions or comments, please reach out and let us know. You can message us through facebook ("Junk Connoisseurs" page) or email at junkconisr@gmail.com.
Let us know if there are points of confusion because we're using acronyms that are unfamiliar or if I edited something out that makes it incontiguous...or just say hi and let us know what you like so we can keep that in mind for the future.
It would be fun to answer questions or address comments on future episodes.
Thanks...and Stay Fresh, Cheesebags!
I listened to another 3-4 episodes yesterday in the shop. It goes a bit in and out as I run grinders and such, but still great. It feels like you guys are in the shop BSing with me.
I think you missed in the fiero episode how it sold more than 140k units in the first year alone. I think I remember reading somewhere that this means the 84 fiero is the "best single year selling 2 seat sports car of all time".
In reply to Robbie (Forum Supporter) :
I fully believe that. There have been a few things that I have found out info was off on. Such as I am not sure that the sales figures for the Citation are accurate. I have seen elsewhere that the Cutlass was the best selling car that year and it didn't sell 800k units. Oh well, we don't actually know what we are talking about.
Feel free to send us hate mail. It will be funny as hell and we can read it on air.
In reply to singleslammer :
Is it possible that the Citation number of 800k units may have been that the fwd X-body sold 800k. Still no small feat but made up of:
This source claims nearly 274,000 Citations sold for 1980
In reply to John Welsh :
This site claims that 800k number. That likely includes all versions but that is still a massive number.

That's the vibe we're going for...and honestly, most of the time we are in *A* shop BSing.
So far the feedback here seems to be that people like that aspect of the show. Fantastic!
Weird technical question... I am using Podbean and it does not seem to have a volume control. I am using a phone tied into a car and have to have the phone and car turned all the way up to barely be able to hear anything. Am I missing something?
Also, IIRC while they did technically make automatic Yugos, they only made like 86 or 88 before they shut down.
In reply to Pete. (l33t FS) :
The first few episodes are pretty quiet as we didn't each have mics yet. Sorry about that as it is an issue for listening with background noise. It does get better though.
That is interesting about the yugos. I'm not surprised that they had that thought for selling in the American market but am also not surprised that it didn't work out.

That is technical and weird. I just went through and tried each episode and it seems to work fine (I'm listening through the apple podcast app). I can hear them acceptably at 1/2 volume. When I edit, I try to set the levels to where I can listen comfortably at 1/2 volume, give or take (on a phone or computer).
And then, when we publish them (Jordan handles this...so this is my understanding of it) on buzzsprout, they have an add-on service that "fixes" the levels to keep them in line with the standards required by all the podcast platforms.
So, I'm a little surprised you're having a problem. Am I understanding right that you're having a problem hearing our podcast? Have you tried on a different service/platform? I'm interested to know the root cause of this but I'm honestly not techy enough to probably be much help. I guess there's always the first step of: turn it off and back on again ;)
Alright...episode 10 dropped today. We have achieved DOUBLE DIGIT episodes!
I'd classify this as a bingeable amount of content, for those so inclined.
Today we'll get together to record some more. Let us know what you think.
Thanks for listening!

You were my listening pleasure this morning while raking the back yard from a windy winter's worth of downed small twigs, branches and pine cones.
For the three year GM I was guessing Buick Reatta but it was offered in more colors and was not rwd.
You'll need to log in to post.
