Don't know if you guys already saw this one form Lexus...the CT Hybrid. Here are some specs if you're interested...
Starting at $29k
1.8L inline 4, Atkinson cycle
Electric drive
134 hp
0-60mph in 9.6 seconds
43/40/42 mpg
0.29 aerodynamic drag coefficient
3,130 lbs
5 door luxury sedan hybrid
comes in an awesome brown color too ;)
...I dunno, I think that it looks pretty cool, aggressive, but seems heavy for a hybrid, the Mazda3 is at 3124lbs and more fun to drive...meh, just my opinion real quick!

That is VERY mazda3-esque profile, which is a good thing.
Whatcha wanna bet that JUST BECAUSE this one doesnt have CR followed by a letter in it's name, there will be MUCH less complaining about its CRZ level of acceleration.
Looks like a decent car. Id like to drive it.
Oh and i love that brown.

I sat in one at the Detroit Auto Show.
The exterior dimentions seemed like a just slightly larger Toyota Matrix.
The interior was plush in typical Lexus fashion.
...When a Prius is not enough to impress your friends
3,130 seems really LIGHT for a hybrid to me. That it's a "luxury" car hybrid and yet weighs the same as an entry level non-hybrid is impressive.
@Duke: Really? It's as generic as they come to me. Looks like an Impreza/WRX/Mazda3/Focus/etc. Nothing shocking enough to make it ugly or pretty. Shame about the huge overhang.
I just think everything Rexus is pumping out as of lately is disgusting. Everything except for the IS and LFA of course...

Well, at least they stopped copying Mercedes and have turned their eyes to other Japanese brands......
I guess from that angle it looks kinda rough, true.
@dculberson you're right, taking into consideration that it is a hybrid AND and luxury on top of that it doesn't seem too heavy. Kinda neat though to see another chapter in the hybrid story though, luxury/hybrid/wagon/hatch...something new in the market eh?

So it has nothing to do with the car itself and is just based on the brand?
no, i personally think THAT car looks ugly. I think the Rx350 looks ugly. I think the SC430 is ugly. But some people think they look good. Its just a personal opinion. Some people think the Ferrari 458 looks terrible, i think it looks awesome. Some people think the new Fiat 500 looks dumb, i think it looks very hip...

I fear it's an attempt to lure gullible people with low thresholds for "fun".
Hey, there are people out there who think farting in crowded elevators is fun. Watcha gonna do?
I like it. Maybe it isn't fun in comparison to a Miata, but compared to other 40 mpg luxury sedans, it just might be.

Gotcha. I agree 100% on the RX and SC430. ESPECIALLY the SC430 - ugh ugh ugh. But this car I think it far too bland to be ugly. Note that I don't think bland is a bad thing in this market segment. I'm not going to rush out and buy one but there are plenty of people that will.
Wow that's a huge front overhang. Quite the schnoz.
That car looks so confused. It has the rear door window line that should be on a sedan, but then has a weird wraparound rear window on the hatch..... No thanks. Too wierd and having a "L" badge on the front means it's overpriced.

We're starting to look for a new commuter car for my wife because her IS300, while a nice car, is heavy and guzzles gas around town (especially stop-and-go traffic). So she's driven a CRZ, Prius (off the list, thank God), and the CT-200h. Granted, it's not "pretty", but looks good from some angles (not the one above). She's not looking for a sports car, but wants something sporty like her old MX-6. So what good is the CT? Well, I'm hoping that when she drives the MINI Cooper S tomorrow, it will seem like a go cart with rockets in comparison and she won't mind a few piddly MPG less.

Funny I smell almonds and burned nitromethane...
You guys better get used to the schnozz. Pedestrian friendly rules and all that foolishness.

what does that have to do with it? Make it easier to hit pedestrians with a longer shnoz?
If long noses are required, BMW is totally screwed with their miniscule overhangs..

Void space, basically.

AFAIK the standards are voluntary at this point. But they're nothing new. Look at the hood on the 2004 accord vs the older one. That was the same issue.
Oh, and that pic with the squished ends? Congratulations, you just invented the Venza, something FAR WORSE. I have no problem at all with the overhangs on the original.
