Found a set of Team Dynamic Pro-Race 2's in bronze, 4x108 but they have bald tires. I'm planning to use the car as a nice day/summer driver and occasional Autocross (maybe 2 this year).
Tire size is 205/50/16. Any dirt cheap tires you'd recommend? And don't give me the ole "just buy star specs" bit. I can't afford em.
Falken 912. All season, but supprisingly grippy. Same size cost me 400 otd locally.
GT Radial Champiro UHP1 DTD has for $81/ea shipped. I have had the predecessor to this tire--was very nice as a daily driver. From Indonesia. GT Radial is now an SCCA sponsor...
The Sumitomo HTR Z III's are pretty good, I just bought a set. I hear great things about the Federal 595RSR too.
Yeah, Federal 595RSR is only a step behind the top autocross tires (Star Spec, RS3, R1R, Rival). A guy I know nearly trophied at nationals on them in ES. Pretty impressive for a dirt cheap tire. They even make them in your size - however they are only 140 TWR, so you can't run them in SCCA street class.
However, you could run the regular Federal 595 - http://www.onlinetires.com/products/vehicle/tires/federal/205%252F50-16+federal+ss-595+87+bsw.html
Falken 912 says they are all season but they are absolutely worthless in the snow.
I love the 595s I run on the pro-touring cars.

+1 on the Sumis. Run them on the street (DD), and they stick great.
More background on the Sumitomo HTR Z III.
I have run them on a heavy high-power car (3500 pounds, 420 HP) at the track for 10 weekends or so.
They are predictable, talk to you before they get loose, and stick well for the money. If you overdrive them, they start to get slicker after 15 minutes, but then again, so do many more expensive summer performance tires.
They still have plenty of tread, and they have wound up doing incidental daily driving for longish periods when I was too lazy to swap wheels between track weekends.
I'm replacing them with something sticky, now that I have the money to spend, but I was very happy with them as the budget option.

205-45-16 gets you some other choices
If 15" wheels will clear your brakes, get wheels and tires.
BFgoodrich g-force sport comp-2 if you're looking for a UHP with a treadwear rating above 300. They're $100ish a piece.
I hear good things about the Sumis too.

Another vote for the Summito's HTR III's... second season of autocross (with a two driver car), still predictable, decently grippy in the wet. Wears well. Cheap. :)
I like Hankook Ventus V12 evo K110 and Continental ExtremeContact DW for the street and occasional autocross.

I have these on the front of the Civic and used them at the track the other weekend. They were surprisingly nice to drive on. We'll see how they work at the next autocross.
Everyone I know who has used the Federal 595 rsr has been super happy with it.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, I ran them on a 2600 lb SE-R and had similar results. DD and autox'd them for well over 2 years and sold the car with about 50% tread remaining. Highly recommended.
Random observation not really pertaining to anything but I've just done a Google image search for most for most of these tires. And the most popular car for them based on my observations are mustangs, the pages were filled with mustangs.

I just bought a set of these in 245/45-18 for my Solstice GXP. Paid $440 for a set of four mounted. Seem like a pretty meaty and grippy tire for the price and look to be decent for use as rain event tires.
A lot of solid recs in here. My deal with the 16's didnt quite work out, but I will keep this page book marked for my next tire purchase. Thanks.
I was going to suggest the Champiro SX2, but then realized that they're much more expensive than the 595 RSRs.
