Oh, and DO NOT buy a Cosmic Blue one. They're cursed.
But Cosmic Blue is the color I liked! What's wrong with it?
PS - I can't do Silver, because her GP is Silver. I refuse to own Black. The Miata is White and the Javelin is Red. That leaves Blue as the only choice!
Got 45k on mine now. I've owned it since new.
Mine hasn't given me any trouble. I'm the nervous sort so I'm just waiting for some stupidity.
Mods:
AEM Cold air kit.
Harder rear engine mount. I'm unsure of the brand. Bought it used from a friend.
I don't track mine as it's my DD. I get 24 mpg with mostly city driving. I have gotten as high as 30 mpg on 100% interstate driving.

It'll come back to haunt you. Trust me.
Exhibit A- Friend of mine has CB ms3. First day he owned it he plowed it into a snow bank and nearly tore off the front bumper. I could call that his fault for driving a duluth winter on Potenzas. Has multiple mechanical issues, and ultimately is killed by a mercedes that decides to mate with it at about 40mph.
Exhibit B- other friend has CB ms3. Rolls it on the road course at about 110 up at BIR. Walks away- has to be cut out of the car. Driveline is sound, sells hulk to other friend who proceeds to swap driveline into Carbon gray 2005 SP23. Puts CB hatch on to see what the spoiler looks like. Mom promptly backs into it with Acura MDX thrashing most of the passenger side sheetmetal. Must have rubbed some CB paint off on it, mom totals the MDX a month later.
Ask anyone, CB's are cursed man- Ma$$hole got lucky. That car is liable to kill someone.
I think the reason that is "cursed" is because it is the rarest color for the MS3, that & it's usually younger people buying them, driving like a jackass & wrecking them. I've known a few others with the CMB & they've had no issues with them.
What year was the blue available? '09? I really wanted a blue one but when I was looking the only colors available were red and black. I think they added white for '09 as well if I'm not mistaken.
As to reliability, I'd echo pretty much everything said here so far. Stone reliable, and they respond well to mods, and the the mods don't seem to hurt the reliability if some care is taken to meter the fuel correctly and catch the vented goo from the engine. Mine now has a CAI, tune, downpipe and FMIC and I average about 28mpg, although my commute to work is pretty friendly to mileage.
By the way, the FMIC story got cut for space reasons from the Feb. issue, but it should be in April. We're up to 285hp and 310tq at the wheels.

White was added halfway through the 2008 model year. 2008.5-2009 Mazdaspeed3s also had piano black radio faces and steering controls instead of the pewter that came with 2007-2008 models, and the seats on the GT models got suede in place of cloth on the seats (The GT had leather on the bolsters only and cloth or suede on the rest of the seat to hold the driver better).
That reminds me, the turbo TSB I mentioned earlier only covers 2007-2008 models. 2008.5-2009 aren't covered, although some owners have experienced blown turbo seals anyways.
Sunlight silver is the best, example 1.....
Example 2.....
And so show that the regular is just as capable
Except my wife's car is Galaxy Silver, so no-go on that color.
I might be able to live with the Red as the Javelin will be Red/White/Blue eventually and is just faded to Orange now. The Miata is White, so I'd rather not that either. Black might be fun. The Blue is definitely the best though. I should mention I'm way more into wild colors...
