Excited about the extra power, not so excited about a dual mass flywheel.
Easy to sort out, although I'd probably want to drive one before deciding for sure.
So, all Mazda did was change the crankshaft, rods, pistons, head, intake manifold, exhaust manifold and camshafts. Totally the same as a simple tune sold by some aftermarket peddlers
The R&T article states that changes will have to be made to forced induction kits, but we don't actually know that for sure yet.
Love this line in the article:
“There’s also a rearview camera now for when you’re backing your SCCA National Solo Miata up to your tire trailer.”

"...and because the NHTSA says we have to".
Lordy, I really don't want a new car, but if they kept pricing even close to current, I'd at least go for a test drive...
I haven't been tempted yet, pretty content with the ol' NB, but 180 naturally aspirated equus caballus' could push me in to a dealer near me.
CD player is gone?! I'm still butthurt over the tape deck being gone! We have so many potholes here it was nice to listen to music that doesn't skip and is analog quality...

The linked article mentioned adding a telescoping wheel. I assume that's new but I don't know!

Given where they put the CD player - the rear center console between the seats - it's not exactly a great loss.

Put it on a USB stick, and jam it in your slot....

Yes, telescoping is the new addition, the tilt part isn't.
Infinitely, yes. No hyperbole here!
S2000 is dirtier, heavier, more expensive and cannot be bought new. Also slower. All legitimate concerns.
Troll suit on: If s2000s were so great why did they stop making them?
What is this, the 8th iteration of the miata? Honda quit at 2.
BTW Mazda....just give me that hatchback, and I will literally walk into a Mazda dealer and buy a hatchback Miata brand new off of a dealer lot for my next daily driver.
In reply to Keith Tanner :
Traditionally, US-market cars have had fewer color options than Canadian cars, so there is nothing to suggest that the brown top will also make it south of the border.
Why is this when I'm sure the Canadian market sells far fewer cars?
Canada has more of a European influence, especially in Quebec. You see brighter colours and a higher percentage of stick shifts.
Funny my dad has an s2000.
he loved it. Right up to the time I got a miata.
okay honestly it was when I swapped on fm’s suspension bits.
Mine rode better and handled better.
i will admit the vtec and a bajillion revs is cool

Twas only supposed to be a one model year car that lasted ten. At least Honda is starting to right their ship again with current offerings. Days of high revs are gone though :(. Glad I've got the best model year of S2000. No traction control, updated body, engine with slightly more torques.
I've driven a few NDs and I absolutely love them. I love the exterior style as well. The extra power will be a plus. Is it enough to get me in a showroom to trade my S in? Nope, especially when Mrs. Dirtybird wants a 3 row SUV and those are not cheap, even used.
For 2019 it looks like they've addressed almost every possible weakness of the ND.
For the record, prior to 2018 the base model GX in Canada only has bland color options. The Sport model in the US has had an option of Soul Red. We have poor color selection too.
Glad I waited, almost purchased a 2018. Proving once again that if you wait a couple of years after a redo the manufacturer addresses all the problems/concerns of the restyle resulting in a much better vehicle. I have an NC currently and I have driven an S2000. Like them both but both very different.
